There’s something sacred about the bond between a father and daughter.
The feeling of a father’s protective love and guidance has helped many young girls turn into wholesome young women.
But for Hajat Habiiba Namuwaya, her relationship was different. Not only did her father not love her – he tried to kill her.
Why on earth would a father seek to take the life of his own flesh and blood?
Because his daughter had become a Christian.
Hajat grew up in a Muslim home, but decided to leave her former life behind and follow Jesus.
Her conversion happened after a Christian pastor had prayed for her breast cancer and she found healing.
This now former Islamic teacher became a Christian and was excited to share her faith!
But sadly, instead of letting Hajat choose her own path and faith, her Muslim father sought to take her life.
Hajat learned about her father’s plans when her mother tipped her off.
Morning Star News reported:
“My mother warned me that the family was planning to kill me,” Namuwaya told Morning Star News from her hospital bed.
“I shared my fears with the pastor, and the pastor together with his family accepted to host me, and freely I openly shared my new life in Christ with friends on WhatsApp, which landed me in trouble.”
One can’t imagine how hard this was for Hajat.
Here is a new believer in Jesus who was eager to share her faith with her friends.
But because of her boldness, now her life was at stake.
Even more horrific, it wasn’t some rogue terrorist group threatening her.
It was her own family. Her father. Her very own flesh and blood.
And it turns out, her mother’s warnings were true.
Hajat’s father did find her at the pastor’s house where she was staying and tried to kill her.
Morning Star News continued:
“My father, Al-Hajji Mansuru Kiita, recited many Koranic verses cursing and denouncing me as no longer one of the family members,” she told Morning Star News.
“He started beating and torturing me with a blunt object, inflicting bruises on my back, chest and legs, and finally forced me to drink poison, which I tried to resist but swallowed a little of it.”
But by God’s miraculous grace, she survived the brutal attack.
Hajat continues to heal, but misses her 3 children who are currently with their father.
Sadly, stories like Hajat’s continue to happen all around the world.
But despite the struggles and violent persecution, God is working in the Muslim community!
There are so many Muslims coming to Christ, even though the cost of following Him could be their lives.
And thankfully, many former Muslims are speaking out and telling their own stories, hoping other Muslims will see that it can be done!
We must never stop praying for Muslims around the world. Let us pray that God will change their hearts and lead them to denounce Islam and follow Christ.
And for those whom God has already saved, may He keep them safe and protect them, and embolden them to share their newfound faith.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
