Nitish Kumar is a 16-year-old boy who loves the Lord and is a leader in his local church.
But because he serves God and professes to be a Christian, this alone makes him a target for those who hate Christ.
And when he left his village one day to go to the market, he was attacked in the most brutal way ever.
Young Nitish was assaulted by a group of anti-Christian activists who threw acid over him, causing severe burns over 60% of his body.
The boy’s sister, Raja Davabi, spoke on the horrific ordeal and described how her brother screamed in pain as he was carried back to his home.
International Christian Concern reported:
“It was a horrifying scene of my brother,” said Raja, “I started yelling and crying looking at my brother. He was in terrible pain at that point and all that I could do is to share the pain by wrapping him in my hands.”
Absolutely horrific.
This boy did nothing wrong and was simply going to the market.
But due to such hostility from those who hate Christ, he suffered immense physical pain – not to mention unspeakable trauma.
Apparently, Nitish was a new believer and had decided to dedicate his life to serving the Lord at church.
This in itself is a massive risk in India.
Persecution of Christians in India is intense, with believers facing threats and even losing their lives for following Christ.
While it’s heartbreaking for us to read stories like this, the pain and horror runs even deeper for those who live among and witness such persecution firsthand.
A local pastor who wanted to remain anonymous spoke about the attack on Nitish.
International Christian Concern continued:
“This is very cruel of what happened to Nitish Kumar, it just terrified the Christian community in the region. There has been increased anti-Christian sentiment, and attacks against Christians in the district are increasing, and these attacks are becoming more brutal, just like what happened to Nitish Kumar.”
India is one of the most hostile countries in the world for Christians to live, and the persecution is increasing every day.
We must continue to keep our Indian Christian brothers and sisters in prayer, and pray they will not lose faith or heart as they watch those they labor beside get slayed by those who hate the Lord.
In addition, let us pray that those who don’t know Christ will hear the truth of the Gospel and be saved.
God is working all over the world, and while India is hostile territory, God’s love and truth can change even the hardest of hearts.
Let us also continue to pray for our brother Nitish Kumar as he heals from both the physical and emotional wounds he’s endured.
May God give him supernatural comfort and peace.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
