Donna Holbrook was a proud owner of two strip clubs and thought she was “helping women” by employing them to serve the men who frequented these establishments.
But then she met Jesus and became a true Christian – and her entire outlook changed.
And once you hear her story of radical transformation and what she’s doing to actually help women now – you’re bound to be encouraged.
Donna claims that she professed Christ (along with her husband) – and truly believed they were helping women by giving them a “safe place to dance.”
They thought the women were safe because there were “cameras everywhere” – and Donna said she would regularly help the girls financially – sometimes even giving them a car.
But then a shocking event occurred – she discovered women were actually being trafficked in her club!
This startling news caused her to shut down one of her strip clubs – although she continued to run the other one until her husband died.
After his death, Donna sold the remaining club – but refused to sell it to anyone who intended to continue operating it as a strip club.
Even sweeter, Donna rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized – and now has turned her time and talent into helping trafficked women.
The Christian Post reported:
“She said God has opened her heart to doing local ministry outreach to help victims of sex trafficking in the Mansfield area. Through her volunteer work with the ministry, she shares the Gospel with women directly impacted by human trafficking.
“[I want] to help them become born-again Christians and feel good about themselves and live a good Christian life,” she said.
Alluding to Ephesians 5:8, Holbrook said she remains motivated to fulfill the Great Commission for as long as she lives. The verse reads: “For you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light.”
“If it wasn’t for God’s grace, I would not be able to tell this story. He is so merciful, so gracious,” she said. “I just want to cry because I’m so overjoyed because He makes me so happy, and He is so good.”
Praise the Lord for Donna’s renewed faith!
She listened to the conviction of the Holy Spirit and realized she was deceived in believing that running strip clubs was actually “helping women.”
Women need to know they don’t need to “dance for men” or “serve them” in this capacity in order to survive.
Christ never calls us to compromise our dignity to feed the lust of men.
We are all called to a higher standard.
Let’s pray for all of those still trapped in darkness – whether it’s a single mom who’s an exotic dancer trying to feed her children – or a college student who sees no other way to pay for school other than to “dance for men.”
May God put people in their path who will share the life-saving light and truth of Jesus Christ and help them escape the shackles of darkness.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
