In today’s society everything is labeled as “oppressive” or “offensive.”
And while some Americans complain about not being able to be called by their “preferred pronoun” of choice – true oppression is happening in places like North Korea – and it’s worse than anyone could ever imagine.
In fact, North Korean defector and now U.S. citizen Yeonmi Park recently wrote a book sounding the alarm and warning America to turn back – before it’s too late.
In her new book While Time Remains: A North Korean Defector’s Search for Freedom in America, Park reveals all – from her journey escaping North Korea only to be sold as a child sex-slave in China, to being forced to eat cockroaches on the way to school so she didn’t die of hunger.
The New York Post reported:
“In the first five years of her life, an estimated 3.5 million North Koreans died of starvation. Park recalls hunting for cockroaches on the way to school to quell her hunger — even as the Kim’s regime banned the words “famine” and “hunger.”
“Darkness in Hyesan is total,” Park writes. ”It’s not just the absence of light, power, and food. It is the absence of dignity, sanctuary, and hope. Darkness in Hyesan is … watching your parents and neighbors hauled away by police for the crime of collecting insects and plants for their children to eat.”
Yeonmi Park experienced true tyranny and oppression – many of us will never experience in a lifetime – before she was finally free.
Now as an American citizen, Park is convinced more than ever that the freedoms Americans enjoy are not something to be taken for granted.
And she warns we need to continue to fight to protect them before it’s too late.
In her book, she calls out the LGBT machine that is brainwashing and destroying our society by making everything seem offensive.
After growing up under true tyranny in North Korea, Park is shocked to see how many Americans (especially the younger generation) claim to be “oppressed” over their perceived injustices regarding the “transgender” movement.
She doesn’t hold back and reiterates how much Americans who claim they are “oppressed” don’t even know what true oppression looks like.
Faithwire reported:
“They were in Manhattan, living in the freest country you can imagine, and they’re saying they’re oppressed? It doesn’t even compute,” she said of some students she encountered while attending Columbia University.
“I was sold for $200 as a sex slave in the 21st century under the same sky. And they say they’re oppressed because people can’t follow their pronouns they invent every day?”
And she’s exactly right.
We live in the freest country in the world (at least for now) – and we ALL should be convicted to use our freedom to help others be free.
Oppression is NOT being denied access to girls’ sports because you are a biological male.
True earthly oppression is like what Park experienced – living under a tyrannical ruler that almost took her life.
Praise God Park was able to escape and tell her story – may we all learn something from it.
Freedom is never free and is never more than one generation from extinction.
And while ultimate and true freedom is only found in Jesus Christ – those of us born here in America have the responsibility to keep fighting to protect our freedom to peacefully assemble and worship the Lord so future generations can experience the same hope.
In addition, may we use our voice, time, talent, and treasure to help others struggling to escape the shackles of slavery and injustice.
What do you have to say to Americans who claim that not being able to go by their “preferred pronoun” makes them oppressed?
Do you agree with Park that we need to fight back before it’s too late?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
