19-year-old Sunita Masih lives in Pakistan and found herself a victim of a horrific attack.
A Muslim man had been pursuing her, wanting to marry her – and asked her to denounce Christ.
And when Sunita made it clear she wasn’t interested and wouldn’t give up her faith – he brutally sprayed her face with acid, leaving her forever scarred.
Kamran Allah Bux was her attacker, and after he doused Sunita in acid – leaving burns over 20 percent of her body – he fled the scene.
Sunita’s uncle, John Marsh, stated the attack will have a devastating and lifelong impact – and acknowledged her scars were both emotional and physical.
Morning Star News reported:
“Sunita is just 19, but now her whole life has been physically and mentally scarred by Kamran,” her uncle said. “Even if he is convicted for his crime, will Sunita be able to live a normal life again? We all know how our society treats acid attack survivors, even though they are the victims of this heinous crime.”
Sunita Masih suffered 20 percent burns in the attack.
“My eyes, face, arms, and legs started burning as soon as Kamran threw the acid on me,” she told police from her hospital bed. “The pain was so excruciating that I collapsed on the road.”
How absolutely horrifying.
One can’t even imagine the trauma Sunita experienced when she realized her face was forever scarred, not to mention the immense physical pain.
What makes this situation even more heartbreaking is it could have been prevented.
Kamran had been harassing and pressuring Sunita for a long time. Her family even tried to get him to stop, and when he didn’t, they reported it to the police.
But the police did nothing to protect Sunita or warn Kamran to stop.
And as a result, a tragedy occurred.
Sunita could have given into the pressure to become a Muslim and marry Kamran – but her faith in Jesus was not something she would give up.
Sadly, she joins a long list of believers around the world who continue to be tortured, and even killed – for their faith.
There was the pastor in Uganda who was sprayed with acid for following Jesus.
In fact, using acid as a weapon seems to be a common tactic among those seeking to harm Christians who won’t convert to Islam.
Other Christians have lost their lives for refusing to denounce Christ.
Please join us and commit to praying for Sunita today – and pray the Lord will grant her supernatural peace that surpasses all earthly understanding.
She has a long road of healing ahead of her, but God is faithful and has promised to be with His children during suffering and persecution.
In addition, let us pray for all our fellow brothers and sisters around the world who face death for following Jesus.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
