As a nation continues to turn away from God and recover from a crushing pandemic, it’s clear to many for the first time that they need something bigger than themselves to fix their broken lives.
And for the first time ever, many people are falling to their knees and accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, trusting on Him to direct their next steps.
In an attempt to reach the masses, preacher Franklin Graham (son of the late Billy Graham) hosted an epic 14-day evangelical event in eight cities spanning all along Route 66 – and just wait until you hear what God did!
Franklin Graham’s ‘God Loves You Tour’ was a free, 14-day event that ended up drawing in an estimated crowd of 56,000 people.
56,000 people who heard the Gospel and had the decision to either place their lives into the hands of Jesus or not.
And praise God, it’s reported that more than 5,000 people actually DID make the decision to trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and dedicated their lives to Him right then and there!
To pull off such a massive event, Christians from more than 1,400 churches banded together to work as a team – all with the same mission of making sure the Gospel was preached, and that people could get plugged in locally should they decide to follow Christ.
Franklin Graham is no stranger to hosting these large events and has participated in nearly 200 during the course of his ministry.
He also currently serves as president of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian humanitarian organization that provides physical aid to those who are hurting in Jesus’ name.
During his message at the event, Graham was loving, yet truthful – stating he wasn’t offering religion as a method of salvation because, as Christians already know, religion doesn’t save – only Jesus does.
The Christian Post reported:
“And tonight at the last stop in San Bernardino, I told the crowd that I’m not offering religion to anybody because religion can’t save your soul from Hell—only Jesus Christ can.
I thank God for all those who responded to the invitation to come to Jesus Christ in repentance and put their faith and trust in Him. Join me in praying for them.”
This is such an important message to preach, as many people are trapped into thinking they need to “earn” their salvation and just “try harder” to “earn” God’s love.
But we know that Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins – past, present, and future.
Salvation is not about US being “good enough” – but about how perfect and good GOD is.
The enemy may have some under his spell of deception, but the Gospel never returns void.
Light is always stronger than darkness, and we can join in the celebration with other believers each time a new soul comes to Christ!
The beauty of Graham’s message is timeless.
The Christian Post continued:
“Times change, culture changes, but people’s need for a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, doesn’t change,” said Graham.
“With all the bad news around us day in and day out, people need hope. I want people along Route 66—and the rest of this nation—to know that God loves them.”
May those who put their faith and hope in Jesus Christ for the first time, or even those who rededicated their life to Him, come to internalize His love.
Let’s pray these new Christians will get plugged into a local church and participate in fellowship with other believers.
With so much bad news these days, this story is a much-needed and encouraging reminder that God is always working and lives are being saved, all for His glory!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
