Most public schools are determined to keep prayer and God out – but in Chattanooga, Tennessee – something amazing is happening.
Thanks to the local nonprofit organization Bible in the Schools (BITS), thousands of students in more than 29 different public schools are learning God’s Word… during school hours!
And you’ll be amazed once you learn the incredible way this organization gets the Bible into schools.
With so many schools teaching a pro-LGBT curriculum and steering students away from any sort of Christianity, it seems farfetched to even imagine public schools allowing children to actually learn about the different names of God or the life of Jesus Christ.
But in Hamilton County Public Schools that’s exactly what is happening, and just wait until you hear the details.
For 100 years, BITS has offered Bible History elective courses to students in Hamilton County – as part of their regular school day!
And in the 2020/21 school year, the demand for Bible History courses reached its highest interest ever.
Of the 19,000 students who had the opportunity to take the course – an average of 1 in 4 students actually took AND completed the course.
Even more encouraging, this program is 100-percent funded by donors who are passionate about making sure students in public schools have access to God’s Word.
BITS reported:
“Bible History courses are funded entirely by the generous supporters of Bible in the Schools. Board Chairman Mr. Tom Glenn stated:
“As we approach our 100th school year, it is an honor to present this gift to our public schools, as it represents the heart behind so many donors in this community. Such generosity makes the gift of Bible History available to so many young lives.”
Because of the generosity of the community, Bible in the Schools provided the largest community partner donation to Hamilton County Schools given in the 2020-2021 academic year.”
Thanks to generous donors, BITS was able to present Hamilton County schools with an annual community gift of $1.8 million as reimbursement for the 2020-2021 Bible History elective program, reported BITS.
What a beautiful program!
In most public schools, even the mention of the name Jesus causes kids to get punished – like the little girl who got in trouble for wearing a mask that said “Jesus loves me.”
Teachers and coaches are forbidden to pray for their students, and leftist school boards continue to introduce policies that completely violate God’s design.
But thankfully, there are organizations like BITS who have kept the partnership alive with public schools for 100 years.
You might be wondering how this program is even possible with leftist courts calling the shots.
Well, thanks to a 1980 court ruling, the program is legal – and permitted.
Faithwire reported:
“Bible History classes abide by guidelines established by a 1980 federal court ruling affirming that the program in Hamilton County’s public middle schools and high schools is legal and constitutionally protected. And the curriculum aligns with the Tennessee Department of Education’s academic standards.”
As Christians, we know God’s Word never returns void.
Let us pray the power of His mighty Word will reach the hearts of students as they study His everlasting and eternal truth – and let us pray many students will come to know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
