“Let us drag people from the church and stop conversions at any cost,” one of the leaders spoke to a crowd of nearly 500 people at an anti-Christian rally.
But instead of condoning the threat of violence against Christians, prominent leaders attended the rally and applauded the remarks.
And once you hear the details of all this event entailed, you won’t only be furious – you’ll be heartbroken.
Christ told us persecution was certain for those who follow Him, but it still doesn’t make it any less easy.
It’s gut-wrenching to watch Christians lose their lives simply for living a life of peace and promoting the Gospel.
But to those who hate Christ, they are determined to try and silence His name, so they’ll stop at nothing to threaten and intimidate believers – even going so far as to kill Christians with no remorse.
Most recently, Hindu nationalist leaders held an anti-Christian rally to call for more violence against Christians.
Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spoke out and said the unthinkable.
International Christian Concern reported:
“Roop Singh Mandavi, another leader of the BJP, said, “We will frighten Christians who are involved in conversion work in the region.
We will not allow the missionary work to be carried on in Bastar and will protect the Hindu religion by stopping the conversions.”
And by “stopping conversions” they mean murdering Christians.
Even though nearly 500 people heard such calls for violence, leaders of the rally were “disappointed” more didn’t show up – they were hoping for 10,000 people, reported Faithwire.
For Christians in India, persecution is a very real thing.
Some Christians are denied income and work, not because they aren’t qualified for the job…
… but because they are a Christian.
Others, like this pastor, preached the Gospel up until the very end – when they were martyred for their faith.
Even young children who come to accept Jesus in India are beaten and shunned by their own families for choosing to follow Christ.
It’s no wonder India ranks #10 in the Open Doors list of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a Christian.
COVID-19 has made things worse, as the government overlooks Christians who are starving and refuses to give them food, opening up a new way to torture and persecute them.
Let us remember to never stop praying for our Indian brothers and sisters, that God may comfort them during persecution and give them strength and courage to persevere.
And for those who leave their Hindu faith and choose to publicly follow Christ, we must pray for their protection, that God will keep them safe as they do His will.
Those who hate Christ may try and silence Him and keep His name from spreading, but as believers, we know God is sovereign, and He is stronger than all the evil forces of this world.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
