In 2016, Israel Lemus received the devastating news – he had brain cancer.
The cancer was so aggressive, he was given only 2 months to live.
But 6 years later he’s still alive and thriving – and has this to say.
Faithwire reported:
“To me, it’s 100% God,” Lemus told the news outlet.
“Honestly, I’m thankful to God for every day. The first thing I do when I wake up and the last thing I do before going to sleep is thank God for that day.”
One can’t even imagine the shock of being told they only have 2 months to live.
Yet instead of wallowing in sorrow or depression, Lemus was determined to trust God – and trust his life into God’s loving hands.
So he continued to live his life – and 6 years later he’s still alive!
What a true miracle.
Lemus reports that despite being diagnosed with a death sentence, he’s been feeling well and going about living his life.
He’s still taking his cancer seriously, and continues to go through different types of cancer treatments.
The MRI scans he receives still show the cancer is in his brain – but he’s not letting it slow him down.
Because of the scans, his doctors can’t claim he’s in remission – and they are utterly stunned he’s still alive.
Talk about a testimony!
While his cancer isn’t cured – it’s truly incredible he’s still alive – a miracle that can only be attested to God.
His wife concurs – and expresses her gratitude and awe that God has continued to let her husband live another day.
Faithwire continued:
“Lemus’ wife, Samantha, describes her husband as “my miracle” — an incredible story of survival they both credit to the Lord.”
Praise God for His incredible gift of life to this sweet couple.
They could have simply cursed God for allowing this to happen, or lost faith in Him and His sovereignty.
But they didn’t, and their faith is an important reminder to us all that we must continue to trust God even when we don’t understand.
We truly are not guaranteed tomorrow – any of us – and each day that God allows us to open our eyes and start a new day – we should be thankful.
Sometimes it takes a scary medical diagnosis to “wake us up” to the fragility of life.
It can be easy to take life for granted – and even waste time on frivolous activities.
Let’s pray we all start living every day like it’s our last – and see what God can do through us.
Have you ever experienced a miracle in your life?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
