A Christian high school teacher in Ireland believed God made each person male or female, and refused to call his students by their preferred “transgender” pronoun of choice.
But instead of respecting his religious beliefs, the court struck back – and actually threw him in jail.
And once you hear the horrific details – you’re bound to be outraged.
We’ve reached a day in our world where refusing to bow down to the LGBT agenda isn’t just a difference of opinion – but is now deemed a criminal offense.
High school teacher Enoch Burke found this out the hard way when he was suspended for refusing to refer to one of his students as “they.”
When Burke tried to still continue teaching, the school sought legal action and received a court order – permitting him from stepping foot onto school property.
And when Burke tried to still teach his beloved students – he was arrested and thrown into prison.
But instead of being intimidated or giving up his sacred religious beliefs, Burke doubled-down – and insisted what the school was doing was contrary to the Bible – and therefore he couldn’t obey the school rules as they went against God.
Christian Headlines reported:
“If this court so determines, I will never leave Mountjoy Prison if in leaving the prison I violate my well-informed conscience and religious belief and deny my God,” he said this week, according to the News Letter.
“It seems to me that I can be a Christian in Mountjoy Prison or be a pagan and respecter of transgenderism outside of it. I know where I belong.
“My faith has led me to that place and will keep me there, God helping me,” he added.
The school’s request, he said, is “contrary to the work of God.”
Praise God for this bold teacher who stood strong in his faith.
Many people proclaim to be a Christian, but when their faith is put to the test – they often go back on God’s word to please men.
And while this incident happened in Ireland, all across the United States, Christian teachers and coaches continue to face discrimination.
Who could forget about the coach who prayed for his players AFTER a school game – and was punished by his school district?
He didn’t let up – and the Supreme Court ended up siding with him – which was a huge victory for religious liberty.
Other school teachers in the U.S. have found themselves suspended for refusing to refer to their students by their “preferred transgender pronoun” of choice.
We must continue to pray for the young minds of all our children who are caught up in the LGBT culture war.
As adults continue to confuse children by causing them to doubt how God made them, Christians must continue to stand as a light to contrast the darkness.
We know God’s truth will win in the end, but in the meantime our children’s minds are in danger of being corrupted by a perverse agenda, and they need courageous adults to continue to stand up for them – even if they are persecuted for it.
