When Christian teacher John Kluge was told he must refer to students by their “preferred” pronoun – he refused.
Even though he tried to compromise with school officials and simply call students by their last name, he was forced to resign.
And when he went to the courts to plead his case – you won’t believe how the judge ruled.
Being a Christian, Kluge believed in God’s design for male and female and was unwilling to disobey God and adopt the “transgender” ideology.
As a result, he found himself in a massive legal battle – all because he wanted to simply call students by their own name.
It all started in 2017 when the school wanted to find ways to support “transgender” students.
School officials thought it would be a good idea to let students use whatever bathroom they wanted and go by whatever name or pronoun they decided was best.
Four teachers penned a letter stating their religious objections.
Sadly, three of the teachers backed down and agreed to follow the new school protocol, New York Daily News reported.
But not John Kluge.
The school agreed to let him call the students by their last name – to avoid having to use their new “transgender name.”
This worked for a while, until the school decided it was making students too uncomfortable.
Students also accused Kluge “slipping” and calling them by their real name instead of their new “pronoun,” reported New York Daily News.
So the school came back and gave him an ultimatum – use the students “preferred” name or resign.
Not wanting to violate his deeply-held religious beliefs, Kluge resigned.
But when he took his case to the courts – an Obama appointed judge, Jane Magnus-Stinson, wasn’t having it.
In fact, according to this liberal judge – because Kluge is a Christian, she deemed his religious views simply couldn’t be “accommodated.”
Christian Headlines reported:
“Magnus-Stinson noted that Kluge is a Christian who believes that “God created mankind as either male or female, that this gender is fixed in each person from the moment of conception, and that it cannot be changed, regardless of an individual’s feelings or desires.”
But the school district had demonstrated it could not “accommodate Mr. Kluge’s religious belief” about transgenderism “without incurring undue hardship,” the judge wrote.”
It’s a sad day when Christians are being told their deeply-held Christian values can’t be “accommodated”…
…meanwhile those who promote “transgender” policies are welcome with open arms.
As Christians, we must continue to hold true to God’s design for both male and female – and lead by example to the next generation.
If future generations see adults compromising on such an important issue, they too will think it’s okay to disobey God.
While it can be challenging to lose one’s job, God is faithful and He will take care of His people.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
