North Carolina Sheriff Jody Greene is a Christian who is not ashamed of his faith.
On the wall of his office, Greene has the Bible verse “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me,” Philippians 4:13 – a verse that has encouraged him during the darkest moments of his life.
Sadly, once the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) found out about the verse – they were outraged and demanded he take it down; the sheriff responded firmly.
Addressing FFRF publicly – Greene declared that he was not intimidated and would not remove the verse.
Not only did he stand his ground – but he went on to say that his office ALWAYS prays to the Lord before entering a dangerous situation – further demonstrating the importance of his faith in everything he does.
On Facebook, Greene wrote:
“First, the Bible verse was placed on the wall after I took office. It was paid for with private funds, not with county funding. The verse is one of my favorite Bible verses, and it seemed fitting for all the adversity I have had to endure. It is very motivational to me and my staff. Here at the Sheriff’s Office, we work hard in everything that we do. Before we execute a search warrant, or any service that puts our people in immediate harm’s way, we ALWAYS go to the Lord with a group prayer. ALWAYS!”
How beautiful!
The sheriff’s office understands the importance of prayer, and the necessity to keep God first – even in the workforce.
Our true strength comes from Him, not from our own abilities.
The sheriff continued:
“I was raised in church. I have been in law enforcement for over thirty years. My training taught me to value God, family, and my country…
It is time, past time, to stand up. So let me be clear, I will not waiver on my stance and Christian beliefs.”
Amen!
Cheers to Sheriff Greene for standing his ground.
He could have been intimidated, or feared that the FFRF would somehow cost him his job, but his faith in Jesus empowered him to be bold – inspiring others around the country to follow his lead.
How many of us would quickly cave and take down the verse simply to “not make waves” or “not rock the boat”?
It’s something to consider.
Please keep Sherriff Greene in your prayers – as FFRF is vicious and will do anything to attack Christians.
Remember – the FFRF is the group that stopped children from participating in Operation Christmas Child, which sent shoeboxes to underprivileged children around the world.
Sheriff Greene may stand strong – but he will continue to be attacked.
So, let’s keep him covered in prayer.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
