Musician Lincoln Brewster has had a storied career playing with famous names such as Journey lead singer Steve Perry and others.
Now serving as worship leader at Bayside Church in Sacramento, California, Brewster is using his talents for the glory of God by training up a new generation of worship leaders.
The group of young men and women called Thrive Worship just released a new album A Thousand More.
And when Brewster saw them perform this song live for the first time, it brought tears to his eyes.
Thrive Worship, which started as the worship team for Bayside Church in Sacramento, CA, has quickly bloomed into a sprawling, eight-campus worship family whose songs and weekly Sunday night worship services are transforming their Northern California community.
The group debuted their new album, A Thousand More, performing it publicly for the first time at Bayside Church’s Thrive Leadership Conference 2019.
The eleven-song album is filled with original worship songs from the vivacious ministry happening at Bayside Church.
The group is comprised of young men and women that have been trained up by Christian Music Artist, Lincoln Brewster.
“It was incredible!” said Michaela Medlin who attended the event.
Lincoln could be seen in the audience weeping with joy as the young adults he has trained up took the stage to praise God.
Listen to the album’s namesake song for yourself:
Thrive Worship signed with Integrity Music, whose VP of Song & Artist Development, Adrian Thompson had this to say: “We are so excited to have Thrive Worship as part of our family at Integrity Music. Having spent time and getting to know the team, being part of the congregation when they have led worship, and seeing their passion engaging people in worship with songs that reflect their journey with a sound that reflects their culture, I am grateful that we get to present Thrive Worship and their songs on a global scale.”
They took the stage May 3rd to lead worship at the Thrive Conference to a crowd of a few thousand Church Leaders.
The heartfelt songs touched many in the room as voices filled the air with the worshipful lyrics. I even found myself crying as they sang “I Still Believe” (Song five on their album).
I firmly trust that God has blessed these men and women, not only with incredible talents, but also, with humble, beautiful hearts that strive to edify others!
The album marries together fun, energy-filled songs with a heartfelt, worshipful cry to God.
Many “worship” songs today sound as though they could be sung to a boyfriend or girlfriend due to their vague lyrics, but Thrive Worship has done no such thing!
“Every song on this album is telling a piece of a story from our church,” shares Corbin Phillips, one of the group founders. “It’s something we’ve been building for a while now. This album encapsulates a sonic picture of us being the most creative and God-honoring worshippers we can be.”
Corbin also states, “When you have a lot of people from different backgrounds, you get a lot of different influences in the music from Gospel to pop to congregational. It gives us a lot of space within the boundary lines to create outside of the typical church worship band.”
Commendably, they make it very clear that they are worshipping God and that their Savior is Jesus Christ. Having listened to the album I found it refreshing and am excited to bring in the songs for my own worship team to sing.
Peter Burton (another group founder) explains, “We want to spread a message of hope, we want our music to inspire those within the church, as well as reach those outside of the church. We want people to feel like they can come and be comfortable, no matter what state of life they’re in. Our hope is that these songs would be able to reach someone who’s really far from Christ or someone who’s been walking with Him for a long time.”
Thrive Worship’s goals are truly exemplary of Jesus’ teachings. To love those around us, to reach the lost, to encourage one another and share the gospel with the world!
If you have never heard of Thrive Worship before today you will be impressed, to say the least. There are not many Christian artists out there producing these kinds of beautiful worship songs and I encourage you to check them out!
