When a gang of Haitians kidnapped 17 Christian missionaries – including five babies and children – the world was stunned.
This brazen move revealed the increasing lawlessness of rogue groups in Haiti – and alerted the world to the ever-growing crisis in Haiti.
But by God’s grace – five out of the 17 missionaries have been released thus far – and just wait until you hear the update on the situation on the ground.
Originally, the Haitian gang demanded a ransom of $1 million per person – and threatened to kill the missionaries if the money wasn’t paid.
All around the word, Christians have fervently gathered in prayer, praying God would perform a miracle and safely bring these Christian missionaries home.
According to Christian Aid Ministries – two of the 17 missionaries were released towards the end of November – and three more have been set free since then!
Praise God!
Naturally, due to the sensitivity of the situation on the ground, Christian Aid Ministries couldn’t give details on the hostage situation, but they did provide the following statement.
Christian Aid Ministries reported:
“We are thankful to God that three more hostages were released last night. Those who were released are safe and seem to be in good spirits. As with the previous release, we are not able to provide the names of the people released, the circumstances of the release, or any other details.
As announced on Friday, we would like to focus the next three days on praying and fasting for the hostages. Please continue to intercede for those who are still being held as well as those who have been released. We long for all the hostages to be reunited with their loved ones. Thank you for your prayer support.”
Amen!
Now that five missionaries have been safely returned to their families – they can begin the process of healing through their trauma.
While we can rejoice in this victory, we must remember the 12 that are still held in captivity.
They are separated from their friends and family – and have been threatened to be killed if a $1 million per person ransom is not paid.
One can’t even imagine the conditions they are living in and the terror they are facing.
It has been reported the youngest hostage is an 8-month-old baby.
All we can do is cry out and pray, and trust our Heavenly Father knows all things and remember He is with them through this horrific time.
Let us take on the challenge to fast and pray, and remember our brothers and sisters who remain imprisoned by the most violent gang in Haiti.
May God comfort the loved ones of those held hostage, and fill them with His supernatural presence. May He give a peace that surpasses all human understanding to the remaining 12 missionaries who are at the mercy of this Haitian gang.
Every missionary knows it could be a possibility that their mission trip could end up like this – but knowing it and actually experiencing it are two different things.
In this fallen world, God has told us we will be persecuted for our faith – and all we can do is trust in His sovereignty and pray without ceasing.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
