From the start of the pandemic, Christians in California have been terrorized by leftist politicians who’ve tried to stop them from worshiping.
While the rest of California opened up restaurants and shops, Christians were forbidden to host Bible studies in their own homes and were even told they couldn’t sing hymns during church.
But in yet another recent victory for Californian Christians, the ban has now been lifted – and out-of-control bureaucrats have finally been put in their rightful place.
As cases continued to go in front of the Supreme Court regarding the right to assemble in church, the response has remained the same – let the people worship!
In another sharp rebuke, the Supreme Court stated for the “fifth time” that they’ve rejected the Ninth Circuit’s analysis of COVID-19 restrictions on religious worship in California.
Finally getting the message, Governor Newsom has begun to lift restrictions and change them from mandatory to “recommended.”
While he still “discourages” people from singing and gathering, at least he’s admitted in writing it’s no longer mandatory.
The COVID-19 California website states:
“In response to recent judicial rulings, effective immediately, location and capacity limits on places of worship are not mandatory but are strongly recommended. Additionally, the restrictions on indoor singing and chanting are recommended only, and are consistent with the recommendations in the guidance on gatherings.”
Praise be to God!
Christians and local churches should have the freedom to gather and worship our Savior without the government telling them they aren’t allowed.
Thankfully, so many faith leaders and groups stood up to these leftist politicians and kept fighting for the rights of Christians.
LifeSite News reported:
“All Californians owe a debt of gratitude to the faith leaders and civil rights groups who stood up to the governor’s illegal violations of our religious liberty rights. Without their willingness to peacefully resist and speak up, houses of worship would still be in lockdown,” said Jonathan Keller, President of California Family Council.
“A pandemic is no excuse to discriminate against believers. Our Constitution mandates that religious practice be treated as essential, not tossed aside and treated like a frivolous pastime.”
Amen.
May Christians continue to gather in their homes to study God’s word, corporately worship and sing songs of praise to our living King, and finally be free from the threats of fines or jailtime simply for exercising their faith.
While the victory in California should be celebrated, let us not forget our brothers and sisters around the world who are still restricted from gathering together.
May God continue to soften the hearts of those who wish to keep Christians from gathering and provide strength and safety to those who are meeting underground.
