Anti-gun politicians in New York decided to rewrite the gun laws – and went so far as to ban guns in churches and other places of worship.
While private businesses in New York are allowed to decide whether guns are allowed in their establishments – churches are not.
But one pastor is fighting back against the gun ban in New York – and just wait until you see what he’s doing.
To start – the Second Amendment clearly states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Sadly, politicians around the country continue to pass legislation banning guns and prohibiting Americans from protecting themselves against the bad guys.
There are countless stories in the media about a lunatic madman who’s shot up a church or school – and we know these deranged shooters often target innocent citizens in gun-free zones because they know they can’t protect themselves.
Not nearly as publicized – but just as real – are stories of heroes who were carrying and were able to take down an active shooter.
But New York politicians don’t care about the truth that guns save lives…
… they simply want to ban them and endanger innocent people.
In response, Pastor Michael Spencer of His Tabernacle Family Church in New York criticized the law – and is suing the State of New York over the infringement of their God-given right to bear arms.
Spencer says his church’s security team can no longer carry guns to protect his church and congregation – which has left members feeling vulnerable.
Faithwire reported:
“One of the challenges that we have is that we’re on television now,” Spencer said, noting the large size of his church.
“When somebody has — whether it be a psychological issue or a God-hating issue — we’re probably the first ones [they go after].”
The preacher said he and his late wife not long ago received a message from someone who threatened to shoot them in the head. Other similar incidents have unfolded over the years.”
Pastors all around the country face very real threats of violence and often have robust security systems in place – especially for larger churches.
To strip the right for an individual to carry and protect themselves against those who could harm them is unconscionable.
All of this is similar to what happened during the COVID-19 pandemic hysteria – where places of worship were often singled out and punished for being open to the public while secular businesses got to follow different rules.
Faithwire continued:
“Spencer’s attorney, Jordan Pratt, senior counsel at First Liberty Institute, said some elements of the New York law make it “legally problematic,” highlighting the targeting of houses of worship.
While churches and other religious arenas have these restrictions, he said secular businesses are permitted to make firearm decisions for themselves.”
And the truth is – the more rights we give up to the politicians – the more they’ll take.
Politicians will often test the limits and try to gauge just how much freedom people are willing to hand over without a fight.
Thankfully, there are pastors like Michael Spencer who refuse to just accept the “new normal” – and are committed to fighting back – not only for his own church – but for all places of worship in New York.
It takes courage to stand against the political majority – but the more people who stand up against them – and elect politicians into office who have solid values – the less politicians will be able to cause harm.
Do you agree with New York’s decision to ban guns in places of worship?
