Hoping to shut down Christianity entirely, Chinese authorities have enacted a new law prohibiting religious activities online – without a permit.
Of course, to be approved for a permit – one can’t go against the Chinese Communist Party leadership or their ideology.
But once you hear the details of this law and how the brave Chinese Christians are holding religious services anyways – you’ll be so inspired.
The crackdown on underground churches in China is ramping up.
You see, China’s government wants every church to register with them so they can control the message – even by inserting communist propaganda into the Christian Bible.
They even changed part of the Bible by daring to call Jesus a sinner!
Christian pastors know that in order to preach the true and unaltered Gospel – they have to go underground.
Members from Christian churches who refuse to register and are found out later are threatened, harassed, beaten, and thrown in jail.
And now, a new measure in China is intended to make things even more difficult for Chinese pastors by forbidding them from hosting church services via online platforms like Zoom.
International Christian Concern reported:
“In order to conduct religious activities online, the religious content must not “incite subversion of state power, oppose the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leadership, undermine the socialist system, national unity, and social stability.”
Religious groups must not utilize the internet to “induce minors to become religious, organize them, or force them to participate in religious activities.”
Basically – the Chinese Communist Party wants to control everything.
But Pastor Gianni* (name protected for security reasons) is refusing to stop hosting services online – even though he knows he could face severe punishment.
When interviewed and asked about the fears he has about the Chinese government finding out he is still preaching the Gospel – Gianni’s answer showcased his steadfast faith.
International Christian Concern continued:
“I am not afraid of the government’s secret investigation. Our faith is “declare with your mouth and believe in your heart,” publicly testifying for Him in the name of Jesus Christ.
It is neither the Church’s responsibility nor does it have the capacity to counter the investigation. We are a fellowship formed by God’s children, not a spy agency.
[Our purpose] is so that the souls live in truth, freedom, and joy, not to make our flesh more secure.”
Amen!
Essentially, Pastor Gianni is choosing to focus on preaching the Gospel and leaving everything else that could happen up to God.
Keeping his focus on his true mission here in this world should serve as an inspiration to Christians everywhere.
So many of us are distracted with things that don’t matter – while people are dying without knowing Jesus.
In fact, many of us are too intimidated to share our faith with even a co-worker – fearing we could “upset” or “offend” them in some way.
Yet Pastor Gianni is willing to keep preaching the Gospel and leading people to Christ whatever the cost.
Let us continue to pray for his boldness – that countless people will come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior from his preaching.
And let us pray for his protection – that he can continue hosting online services and Bible studies – and remain undetected by the Chinese Government.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
