Have you ever gotten a prayer request from a friend or family member but forgotten to include them when you were actually praying?
It happens more often than any of us would care to admit.
But with the new PrayerMate App, you’ll never forget another prayer ever again!
You click the orange logo for the first time and two hands, in symbolic prayer position, pop up with a welcome message: “PrayerMate helps you be consistent in praying for everything you care about.”
You feel your spirit shout: FINALLY.
But your mind still hesitates: Do I need this app taking space on my phone? Surely I can learn consistency another way? But, you’re curious, so you click “Next.”
A screen appears that explains that “PrayerMate works by grouping everything that needs praying for into lists.”
PrayerMate suggests you begin by adding into a few common categories: My Family, Sharing My Faith, World Mission, and a note that you will be able to add more categories later.
When you click “Begin Adding”, it takes you to a page where all you have to do is simply add names into boxes, and click “Next” when ready.
When you have filled in just a few things into the suggested beginning categories, you enter the app page which comes with guided instruction for your “first prayer session.”
You scroll to the right to begin to pray. The date is at the top, and a randomized list of prayer items from the list you just made.
Later you can set it up to suggest a certain number of items per session. This is your “master prayer list” for the day, but when you scroll right to begin your actual session, each item will appear individually.
As you play with all the features you find some amazing things. Each item on the list as it appears on its own page has an editing feature where you can take notes on that item. This can be burdens on your heart, or updates on personal prayer targets (i.e. on “Dad”, maybe you add “back pain started last night” or “praise: his interview went very well!”).
Each individual prayer item also has a settings button, where you can change the item to a different category if needed, connect a contact, or alter the scheduling of how often it appears.
In that settings feature you will also be able to see a bunch of really cool things the PrayerMate app tracks for you. These include the date you added the item to its list, if/when you’ve ever contacted the person, the number of times you’ve prayed over that item, and the last date you prayed over the item/person.
And… as you see God answering the prayers… you can praise Him immediately, because your app can show you the whole history of your efforts toward that fruition!
At that point you may choose to “Archive” the item, write a prayer of gratefulness to God over the answered prayer, and continue your session by swiping left again.
At the end of your list for the day, there is a blessing written over you that the creators of the app sincerely pray for anyone whose eyes fall upon it. To the faithful prayer warriors who make it to the end–you’ll receive a fresh blessing as every session closes.
Super cool, as a feature in this free app, you can get on their mailing list for general updates, and/or the update lists for organizations.
Perhaps you are led to begin praying for a mission group that was suggested to you on your PrayerMate app. You have the opportunity to not only remember to pray for these people, but also be updated on what’s happening with them. This also helps you stay engaged in real time, knowing what to pray for and what to praise the Lord specifically for on their behalf!
For those who need a little extra help there is an alarm as well. This can be set for one or multiple times a day, reminding you to simply click and pray.
Your prayer sessions do not need to be burdens, and your prayers that are currently burdening you do not need to weigh on your shoulders for days without release.
Remind yourself to give it all to God … at a time you know you will make yourself available to speak with our Father. Then, be faithful to that appointment!
Other fun features to truly personalize your experience include color scheme options, font size, passcode lock creation, exporting data, or importing data.
So, is the PrayerMate app right for you?
The only way to find out is to download it and try it for yourself.
Who knows, you may need to add one more item to your PrayerMate app list: A praise report, actually. For the creators and blessing of your new PrayerMate!
