“It’s our job as society, and especially parents, to protect [our children].”
Republican Doug LaMalfa has been fighting to protect vulnerable young people.
And if it goes through the House and Senate, this new bill will save countless lives every year!
During this legislative session, Representative LaMalfa introduced The Protecting Children from Experimentation Act.
The Act aims to “protect children and conscience rights” by prohibiting doctors from performing experimental gender reassignment surgeries and other treatments on minors.
These experiments—often lauded as “progressive” and “brave” by the left—are extremely dangerous and frequently end in tragedy and pain for the young patients involved.
But the LGBTQ movement keeps pushing gender reassignment surgeries and other experimental treatments as a way to let kids be “themselves.”
“Our society has quickly ‘normalized’ gender experimentation under the guise of an ‘accepting’ political ideology rather than biological reality,” confirmed Representative LaMalfa.
“Even more troubling, children are undergoing experimental treatments, like being injected with puberty-blocking hormones and cross-sex hormones, which have irreversible consequences.”
“Our children should not have to pay the high price for these unethical medical interventions,” he continued.
And the Act he’s introduced in the House of Representatives will help protect young people from the steep cost of the LGBTQ agenda.
“As minors, children cannot vote, join the military, or open a bank account,” argued LaMalfa.
“It’s our job as a society, and especially parents, to protect them from making life altering gender experimentation decisions that they may likely later regret.”
Several other representatives have stepped up to back LaMalfa, asserting the importance of restricting access to these dangerous surgeries and experimental treatments.
“Some of our nation’s most important laws are those that protect children,” said Congressman Ralph Norman.
“When it comes to experimentational gender reassignment, most…experts agree that children are simply not capable of fully comprehending the factors or long-term ramifications of these treatments.”
Norman is right: minors often don’t understand exactly what they’re getting into when they opt for gender reassignment surgery.
In fact, some young people who have undergone the process report wishing they could undo the damage.
They often experience crippling depression, a loss of self-identity, and an increased risk of suicide.
What’s touted as a “healing” procedure often becomes “a real disaster,” according to a leading surgeon.
For example, one young woman, Keira Bell, underwent a sex change as a teenager and has since regretted the decision.
“I should have been challenged on the proposals or the claims that I was making for myself,” Bell said grimly.
“And I think that would have made a big difference as well. If I was just challenged on the things I was saying.”
Now in the midst of a lawsuit against the clinic that performed her reassignment surgery, Bell is just one example of the turning tide.
“Many former transgender people (or ‘detransitioners’) have been very outspoken about the harms they have endured from going down the road of ‘gender transition,’” noted Travis Weber, vice president at the Family Research Council.
“People need to be protected, and [The Protecting Children from Experimentation Act] accomplishes that.”
Other representatives and experts agree, citing stories like Bell’s as evidence that gender reassignment surgery should not be a taxpayer-funded endeavor.
“No taxpayer should be forced to pay for these harmful ‘reassignment’ procedures for any individual,” said Jessica Anderson, Executive Director of Heritage Action for America.
Anderson refers to an accompanying bill—also instigated by Rep. LaMalfa—that will prohibit federal funding for experimental sex change treatments.
“Children are precious and our future, and they are worth defending. No child should be forced to undergo medically unnecessary, life-altering procedures in the name of progressive gender ideology.”
“I applaud Rep. LaMalfa for taking action to protect our children.”
Of course, liberal spokespeople are decrying LaMalfa’s bold moves as “truly terrifying.”
They claim LaMalfa and his compatriots are just trying to restrict access to crucial healthcare and are doing their best to get both bills voted down.
But LaMalfa has stood firm in his beliefs and his strong stance on this issue, fighting for the truth amidst the lies and confusion of the LGBTQ movement.
Please pray for the success of The Protecting Children from Experimentation Act! May it become a law that protects our children and young people from making irreparable decisions.
