All one has to do is scroll through social media or turn on the news to experience just a small taste of the darkness in our world.
From abortion activists insisting babies have the right to be killed to the LGBT propaganda indoctrinating innocent children – things look bleak.
If we aren’t careful, the enemy can drag us down into a pit of hopelessness and despair – which is why more than ever we must remember these crucial spiritual truths.
God is still sovereign
We may intellectually “know this” – but do we live it out?
God is grieved at the sin and destruction in this world but He isn’t shocked or surprised by any of it.
Even on our darkest days God is still in control – doing things behind the scenes we can’t yet see and working things out for the good of those who love and trust Him.
He is the master at redeeming what the enemy has stolen and He can make all things new.
The enemy may be king of this earthly world – but God is still sovereign and in control over it all.
The need for prayer
These dark days should bring us to our knees like never before in a desperate attempt to cry out to God for help.
We aren’t in control, and we can’t stop the bad from happening in this world – but we can pray to God for strength to do our part to make a difference in the ways God has gifted us.
One of the best things we can do is intercede on behalf of those who are trapped in darkness and pray for a breakthrough.
God does listen and hear our prayers, and He is faithful.
We don’t pray to God to “get what we want” – but instead we pray for His will to be done and trust Him with the outcome.
Salt and Light
As Christians our walk and way of life should look different to the world.
It is by standing firm to God’s truth and obeying His commands that we can help bring about a spiritual revival in our communities.
If our speech and conduct is the same as a nonbeliever – how could we possibly bring anyone to Christ?
Christians are set apart – and we should walk not in a self-righteous way . . .
. . . but in humility and overwhelmed with God’s grace in our lives.
Don’t Take The Bait
Satan would love to get believers sidetracked or doubting the goodness of God.
From the beginning of time he led Eve astray by getting her to question if God really said what He did.
But don’t take the bait!
Know that God is always good – in every season – at all times.
His faithfulness has endured for generations – and the God of Abraham is the same God we worship today.
So be encouraged and take heart – and never stop praying for a spiritual revival.
Do you think you’ll see a spiritual revival in your lifetime?
How do you think Christians should respond to feelings of hopelessness and despair?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
