Many pro-life politicians and activists claim they are “pro-life” except in cases of rape.
But the women who suffered the horrors of rape and became pregnant are telling these “pro-lifers” to stop using them as a scapegoat to justify abortion.
And once you hear their stories – you are bound to change the way you look at what it means to be pro-life.
To start, as Christians, we know every life comes from God.
It is God who is the Author of life, and every baby is a gift – even if they were conceived in the most horrific of circumstances.
Many pro-lifers acknowledge the trauma of rape, but assume a woman would never want a “reminder of her rapist” and therefore support her ending the life of her baby.
But these women are rape survivors, and they’re here to settle the debate once-and-for-all as to whether abortion is “okay” in cases of rape.

“My son is a reminder,” said rape survivor Paula Peyton Ilari. “He reminds me that miracles still happen, and he is the greatest miracle I’ve ever held. My son is loved. He has a mama whose heart spills love for him everywhere because it simply cannot hold it all. My son is a child. He is a beautiful spark of light and hope and joy.
He, like every other child, is filled with purpose. My son is love. He is God’s gift of love sent to heal my heart and draw me closer to the one who created us both.”
While rape is a horrific and violent act – so is abortion.
Killing an innocent baby doesn’t change the trauma that’s happened to the women who are sexually assaulted – it only intensifies the trauma.
As Christians, we need to boldly stand for life – every life – and ensure we aren’t using the tragedy of another to justify an abortion.
If we truly believe that life begins at conception, it’s clear that abortion can never be an acceptable way to cope with a tragedy.
Children who were conceived through rape are also speaking out, letting the world know every time they justify the “rape exception” in pro-life legislation, they are taking a direct stab at them.

“Every time a person uses rape as a justification for legalized abortion, the individuals to whom they refer can hear them.
“When someone says that children conceived in rape should be aborted, they’re talking about me,” said Stephanie Reynolds in a video for Live Action. “My mother saw that my life was not worth any less than anyone else’s simply because of the way I was conceived and that I shouldn’t be put to death because of the crimes of my father.”
So pro-lifers, be all-in when it comes to standing up for life.
Never compromise on what you know to be true – that God is the Author of life.
Let’s walk alongside those who have suffered sexual trauma and remind them they don’t have to endure their pregnancy – nor their trauma – alone.
True healing is in Jesus Christ, and He uses us to help carry the burdens of one another.
And let us never use the tragedy of another to justify killing an innocent baby.
