Jesus is the light of the world – and He promises that anyone who follows Him won’t walk in darkness.
And as believers in Jesus, we have the incredible privilege to share His light with others who don’t know Christ.
But is your lifestyle really reflecting the light of Christ?
He Is The Source
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12
Jesus is the light of the world – meaning without Him, there is only darkness.
There is no alternative.
People are either walking in the light of Christ or they are walking in darkness – there is no in-between.
When we place Jesus in the rightful place He deserves in our hearts – as well as reading and meditating on His Word – the light of His Word will speak truth to our hearts.
And then we are called to share that truth with others.
Do You Act Different Than The World?
Take an honest look at the way you live your life – does it reflect the heart of someone who loves Christ?
Or do you blend in with the rest of the world – and live as “the world does”?
If you profess to be a Christian, but find yourself getting drunk at the bar, cursing like a sailor, wearing provocative clothing…
… how are you different than someone who doesn’t know Christ?
And no ladies – this doesn’t mean you have to abandon all makeup, wear your hair in a tight bun, and walk around in a turtleneck…
… but, as Christian women, we are called to be modest in how we dress and present ourselves.
And guys – it doesn’t mean you can’t go out with the boys…
… but consider activities that are edifying – such as fishing, camping, or even watching the game – where you can still bond with one another, but without needing to “get drunk” or curse at the TV.
We SHOULD look different and act different than the world does – that’s what sets us apart as believers.
Let Your Light Shine!
As Christians, we have the joy of the Lord as our strength.
When the storms of life hit and yet we still praise Him – rather than curse Him – it reflects the hope of a living Savior to a dying world.
As John MacArthur said: “A godly life gives convincing testimony of the saving power of God. That brings Him glory.”
When you live a life that glorifies Christ, that is above reproach – and with a humble and contrite spirit – God is glorified.
Other people will begin to wonder how they too can have hope in these “things unseen” – giving you the opportunity to then point them to Jesus.
As Christians, we aren’t meant to get saved and then live our lives in a bubble – interacting only with those just like us.
Instead, we are meant to take the light of Christ into a dark and dying world.
Only Jesus can save a person from their sins, but He often uses us to spread His light to others – so they too can repent and be welcomed into His family.
So let the light of Jesus shine brightly in your life and glorify our Father in heaven.
“When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” – Mark 2:17

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
