As the pandemic continues to disrupt millions of lives all around the world, World Vision has stepped in to fill the gap.
Working with more than 124,000 faith leaders worldwide, World Vision has been able to provide relief to 59 million people – changing their lives forever.
Thanks to their efforts, the world has seen the power of Christians working together to be the church and living out the commands of Jesus.
When trials and tribulations come, many people are prone to despair – especially those who have not yet put their faith and trust in Jesus.
In times of darkness, people are looking for light – and this is where organizations like World Vision comes into play.
Not only are the physical needs dire, but those who are lost need to hear and internalize the hope of the living Gospel.
Providing tangible items for people like food and medicine, as well as pointing them to the Gospel, satisfies both their immediate and deepest needs.
The church is more than just a building – it is a living body of believers living out their faith, in real time.
And organizations like World Vision know they can’t accomplish such a task alone, which is why partnering with other Christians and churches was so crucial in making this mission a success.
The Christian Post reported:
“Erica Van Deren, a senior program manager on World Vision’s emergency response team, told The Christian Post that as the world was shutting down, World Vision kept working since that is the purpose God has bestowed on the organization and its staff.
“COVID-19 has been our largest both domestic response and international response that we’ve ever organized as an organization,” Van Deren said in an interview. “It’s been a remarkable amount of work and really just a wonderful opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this really, really challenging time.”
As Christians, we all have a chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus, right where we are.
Take a look around your sphere of influence and see how you can help make the load just a little bit lighter for those in your circle.
And while it seems that things are looking better in the United States in terms of the pandemic, other less-developed countries are sure to feel the aftershocks from such a devastating blow to their already fragile economies for generations.
Which is why our work as Christians is so important!
Consider sacrificially giving not only to your local church, but to organizations like World Vision who are truly living out the Gospel to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
