The Equality Act is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation to ever hit Congress and sparked a heated debate as Christian members of Congress desperately tried to kill the bill.
Seeking to completely eradicate God’s design for gender by making “gender identity” a protected class, the Equality Act strives to force through a radical LGBT agenda like the world has never seen.
But when one Christian Congressman stood up for traditional values, he was met by fierce opposition as his colleague mocked and denounced God. And you won’t believe the debate that followed.
Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) is a Christian who rightfully voiced his concerns about the wicked bill, directing the conversation back to the Bible and God’s design for man and woman.
Steube quoted Deuteronomy on the House floor and spoke to how violating God’s design for man and woman is an offense to Him.
CBN News reported:
“It is not clothing or personal style that offends God but, rather, the use of one’s appearance to act out or take on a sexual identity different from the one biologically assigned by God at birth,” the congressman added.
“In his wisdom, God intentionally made each individual uniquely either male or female. When men or women claim to be able to choose their own sexual identity, they are making a statement that God did not know what he was doing when he created them.”
Even though America was founded with deep Christian roots, society today tries to sweep the past under the rug, pointing to a “new way” of living.
And in response to Steube quoting the Bible, Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) coldly replied:
“God’s will is no concern of this Congress.”
He didn’t pretend that God mattered, nor did he attempt to sugarcoat his words.
Instead, his chilling remarks point to the real battle we are facing as Christians – the spiritual battle between good and evil.
It’s playing out all over our country, but especially in the halls of Congress and Oval Office.
And with a radically pro-abortion presidential administration – one that bows to the LGBT lobby – it’s no surprise radical pieces of legislation like the Equality Act have been introduced.
Culture will continue to shout that God’s commands are obsolete and insist Christians need to simply “get with the times.”
But as Christians, we know God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and we know His Word never changes.
While the Equality Act did ultimately end up passing the House, at least there are Christian legislators still bold enough to stand on truth, whatever the cost.
In what is likely to be a hostile next four years for Christians, we must remember to rest in God’s truth and stand strong.
The faith of Christians will be tested and they will be pressured to cower and give up their beliefs, which is why now more than ever it’s crucial to stay buried deep in God’s word and have an active Biblical community for accountability.
While the battle rages on – one thing is certain – we already know Christ wins the war in the end.
But until the day He comes back, as Christians, we must do our part to make His name known and stay true to His teachings – no matter the cost.
