It’s too easy to become trapped in the way the world influences our thoughts, priorities, and mindsets.
The world pressures us to focus on ourselves and to idolize things other than God.
However, this is not what God desires in our lives.
He desires relationships, and we are the key to spreading this desire everywhere.
Our relationship with God is filled with a perfect, everlasting love unlike anything we will ever have or experience here on earth.
He loves us immeasurably and unimaginably, exactly as we are.
His incredible love completes us in a way nothing else can.
However, God does not want our relationship with Him to stop there, He wants His love for us to overflow and pour into others as well.
God calls us the light of the world in Matthew 5:16, “So do not hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your father in heaven.”
He commands us to share the grace we receive, the love we are given, and the hope we are filled with through our relationship with the Father.
This is His heart’s desire. He knows the power of his love, and it is our design to share that with everyone we come into contact with.
He desires for our relationship with Him to influence our relationship with others as well.
This idea of displaying love not only affects you, but also allows God’s love to flourish like a garden in the springtime.
But it can be frightening to live in a way that openly displays our relationship with God for all to see, especially knowing that the world does not want to see it.
There is a saying that the tallest trees are the first to be struck down in a storm.
The fear of being that tree, open and exposed to the storm of the world, prevents us from displaying our faith and sharing the impact it has on our lives.
There is a fear of being knocked down, being shut out, or judged which keeps us from often even trying.
So we have to change our thinking. In a battle, one side could largely outnumber the other, but the battle cannot be won if the troops refuse to fight.
This is us as believers.
We are Gods army and bringing people to God is our battle. So we need to take courage, raise our swords of truth, and show His love to the world.
This task, while sometimes daunting, can truly be as simple as the way we carry ourselves each day.
The joy we display, our unique outlook on life from the perspective of a follower of Christ, and the way we let God influence our lives and relationships.
It is said that He, “sows seeds of light within his lovers, and seeds of joy burst forth for the lovers of God,” Psalms 97:11.
Our joy in Him will be a light to all the world.
We are called to have a faith so strong that it’s contagious. So strong it fulfills not only our own needs, but the needs of the world. So strong it leads more and more people to God.
So what will you do? Will you take up your sword, or will you let His righteous battle be lost?
This is our mission, we just have to take the leap and be willing to share the love.
