Fred Isiko was a Christian in Uganda, and faithfully worked as an employee of a cargo transport company.
However his boss, Ashirafu Kasenyi, was a Muslim and threatened to fire him if he didn’t renounce Christ and convert to Islam.
Incredibly, a secret recording between the two revealed Fred had refused to give up his Christian faith in order to keep his job – but no one was prepared for what happened next.
According to Morning Star News, Kasenyi asked Fred to meet with him, to which Fred agreed and brought his friend along.
But then Fred and his friend were stopped by three men.
His friend recalls the horrific and violent scene that soon followed.
Morning Star News reports:
“As we were about to reach the trading center, three people stopped us. They said that they have some information for Fred. So I moved at a distance, and immediately one of them removed a long knife and cut his neck as I fled for my life and reported the incident at Kagumu police post.”
Tragic.
Fred Isiko was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and refused to denounce Christ to keep his job – and it ended up costing him his life.
He could have worried about the praise of men and chosen to obey his boss in order to keep his job.
But he didn’t.
Fred stayed true to his Christian faith until his last breath.
As police became involved in the investigation, it was discovered that Kasenyi had sent out the hitmen to kill Fred – all because he refused to renounce his Christian faith and deny Jesus.
The attacks on Christians in Uganda continues to rage on.
Christian Life Daily recently reported the sad tale of a Christian widow who first had to survive the trauma of Muslim extremists murdering her husband – and then experience the loss of her home as they burned it down.
We also reported on the faithful pastor who had agreed to an open-air debate with a Muslim and ended up beheaded with his tongue cut out just for proclaiming the name of Jesus.
He had planted over 50 churches in Uganda – but sadly, he lost his life that day.
Religious persecution is real – and it is increasing more and more each day.
Faithful believers around the world continue to work in the trenches and do the Lord’s work of making disciples and preaching the Gospel in the most hostile environments.
While it can be easy or tempting to get comfortable in our faith – we must never forget our brothers and sisters who are literally dying for the name of Jesus.
Let us pray for the peace of God to be with Fred’s family as they mourn the loss of his life here on earth.
And finally, let us stay fervent in our prayers that those who practice Islam will come to know who Jesus is – and learn He is the one true God and the only one who saves.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
