Amongst the tragedy in Ukraine, there are those looking to exploit the vulnerable.
While children are being ushered out of the country and to safety – a group of evil human traffickers are posing as pastors hoping to kidnap and enslave those trying to escape.
And once you hear the truth about the horrific situation on the ground and all the unspeakable evil – you’re bound to be horrified.
One can’t even imagine such darkness and evil that would inspire a person to harm a child.
It’s dark and demonic, and absolutely heartbreaking.
And in Ukraine, where children are already scared and frightened after being displaced from their homes – an even more dangerous situation awaits them at the border.
While there are many legitimate organizations ushering children to safety – there are individuals and gangs of people pretending to be pastors – only to kidnap and traffick these vulnerable children.
Natasha Boom, Orphan’s Promise’s regional manager for Europe, described the chaotic situation on the ground – like how some mothers will even tie their children to their bodies while they sleep to keep traffickers stealing them in the night.
And she’s asking for specific prayers for those on the frontlines and all the vulnerable women and children.
Faithwire reported:
“The aid worker said the trafficking issue is the “biggest prayer request at the moment,” especially considering how many of these children and families are at-risk.
“We heard reports on the ground this week regarding traffickers pretending to be pastors and turning up with minibusses and coaches,” Boom said. “Some of the border guards said, ‘There are traffickers here, but how do we know? There are thousands of people.’”
She said the situation is complicated and asked the public to pray for these unimaginable evils to be thwarted.
“That is one of my biggest prayer requests … that this evil can be exposed for what it is,” Boom said. “That children would be spared.”
One can’t even imagine the fear these mothers are facing – knowing that in trying to get their children to safety they could be taken.
And as Christians in Ukraine continue to cry out, we must not forget to join in solidarity with them.
On this side of heaven, we know that the evil one is loose in this world – but we can take comfort in knowing God is still sovereign, and always on His throne.
Let us take a moment and pray for those still in Ukraine and for those who have fled.
Father God, we know you are sovereign and in control, even among such depravity and evil. God our hearts break and cry out for you to protect these precious children from those who seek to harm them. Lord, please give discernment to those on the front lines, that they will protect these children and know a safe place for them to go. God, we do ask for your swift justice to expose those who are committing acts of evil – may they be sentenced and taken away so they can no longer harm children. Lord, we cry out for all the destruction and sadness happening in Ukraine, and we pray for those on the ground to be strengthened and comforted by you. We pray all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
