A shocking report reveals the unthinkable conditions that those who professed Christ were forced to endure in Communist China.
Underground churches continue to get raided, with Chinese Christians being yanked and taken to government-backed secret facilities used to torment Christians in hopes they’ll renounce their faith.
If they don’t, they’re brainwashed and tortured in a dark, dreary basement for an infinite amount of time.
You see, in China, Christians are forced to register with Chinese officials and have their information stored in a large database.
Of course, it’s all about control.
The government even alters the Christian Bible by placing communist propaganda throughout it!
Many Christians naturally choose not to officially register with the government – and instead meet in secret underground house churches.
But the Communist Party hates Christianity and is determined to stop it from spreading however they can.
A shocking report revealed that Christians were being held in hidden basements and tortured for months in an attempt to “reconvert” them.
“Li Yuese” (his true name is hidden to protect his identity) was one of the Christians taken to these secret camps – and detailed the torturous months he was forced to endure.
Radio Free Asia reported:
“There is no time limit for the brainwashing process,” he said. “I don’t know the longest time anyone has been held there, but I was detained for eight or nine months.”
“You can’t see the sun, so you lose all no concept of time.”
He said suicidal ideation and self-harm was commonplace.
“I couldn’t sleep; after you’ve been in there a week, death starts to look better than staying there,” Li said. “I bashed myself against the wall to self-harm.”
“One time in there, I was groggy and was trying to open my eyes but I couldn’t,” he said. “Four or five of them grabbed me by the arms and legs and pinned me to the ground.”
“They, they injected me with some drug, and brought me back to consciousness.”
By using physical and psychological torture, these Christians begin to lose all sense of reality and officials hope the isolation and brainwashing finally causes them to crack.
It’s unconscionable to torture individuals simply for their faith.
But despite inevitable persecution, and by the grace of God – home churches are still thriving!
As Christians, we must continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in China who are suffering for their faith.
May God give them courage to remain strong and endure the suffering to glorify His name.
Let us also pray that those with hardened hearts towards Christ will be softened and see the faith of these brave Christians and give their lives to Christ.
