Seattle street preacher Matthew Meinecke decided to attend a “gay pride” parade and read Scripture to combat the darkness.
Yet in the midst of all the debauchery taking place – it was Meinecke who found himself in hot water – and in handcuffs.
And once you hear what officers said when they arrested him – you’re bound to be furious.
So what would cause a peaceful street preacher reading Scripture out loud to end up in handcuffs?
Well according to Seattle police officers – reading the Bible in the streets is now a “public safety issue.”
The Daily Wire reported:
“So at this point we can no longer stand by,” a police officer told Meinecke as he arrested him.
“The risk that you pose for public safety by remaining here can be mitigated if you leave, it’s your last chance.”
LGBT activists cheered as handcuffs were placed on Meinecke and he was hauled away.
What makes the situation even more troubling is how sexual indecencies were taking place – like grown men walking around and riding bikes naked as children looked on – but instead of arresting the men exposing themselves – law enforcement decided to target a street preacher.
Meinecke questioned the officers – asking them why reading God’s Word was so offensive and pointed out their hypocrisy in choosing to ignore the real crimes taking place.
The Daily Wire continued:
“Meanwhile we have a bunch of naked people walking around over here, not even 200 feet away,” he noted. “Naked grown men around little children.”
“In a video, Meinecke stated, “We’ve got a city full of crime. We’ve got needles all over the place. Lawless homeless camps everywhere. We’ve got assaults. We’ve got broken glass. We’ve got Antifa running the place. But they’ve got time to send in ten police officers to arrest a street preacher reading his Bible in a park.”
Sadly, as free as we are here in America – many Christians face bold opposition anytime they choose to share their faith.
For years we’ve followed the story of the high school football coach who would pray on the field after games – and it took the Supreme Court finally weighing in on the issue to send the message that YES – people have the right to freely express their faith.
But still – many Christians who choose to stand for their faith are targeted and punished.
The good news is, despite risking arrest – or worse – many Christians here in America and all over the world continue to boldly share the Gospel.
In a world full of darkness, now more than ever – we must keep sharing the love and truth of Jesus – and be the salt and light to a decaying world.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
