A group of atheists are celebrating in Texas after officially winning their battle to cancel Christmas for underprivileged children.
Elementary students who long enjoyed making shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child to help those in need are now barred from participating in this traditional Christmas event.
And once you hear what these atheists had to say upon learning they’d successfully canceled Christmas – you’re bound to be outraged.
Children all over the United States enjoy the opportunity to tangibly help a little child on the other side of the world experience the beauty of Christmas.
By packing shoeboxes full of goodies, not only do these underprivileged children get to received a small Christmas gift (the only gift they’ll receive), but they get to hear about the life-saving gift of Jesus Christ.
But atheists in Texas just couldn’t stand the fact that a school in their state would have anything to do with Jesus – or with the organization that runs Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan’s Purse, which is headed by Revered Franklin Graham.
Instead of letting children assemble Christmas presents for those in need – they launched a full-out campaign to shut it down.
Their hatred for Christ trumps children who have nothing from being able to celebrate Christmas.
And they robbed Texas children from being able to contribute to such an important mission.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) boasted about their ability to cancel Christmas for underprivileged children, taking another stab at Franklin Graham.
FFRF reported:
“The Freedom From Religion Foundation has stopped a Texas school from collecting money for a proselytizing Christian group headed by none other than Rev. Franklin Graham…
Franklin Graham, the preacher who runs Samaritan’s Purse, is an outspoken evangelist who has made several harmful comments over the years about the LGBTQ community and Covid vaccines.
“It is a fundamental principle of Establishment Clause jurisprudence that a public school may not advance, prefer or promote religion,” FFRF Staff Attorney Chris Line wrote to Galena Park Independent School District Superintendent John Moore.
“Organizing a donation drive that employs school staff and resources to collect donations and advance the mission of a religious ministry violates basic constitutional principles.”
FFRF’s letter worked well as a constitutional alert. The state/church watchdog has been assured, in a communication from the school system, that the district had been unaware of the school’s participation in the evangelical fundraising and that this will no longer take place.”
Heartbreaking.
Sadly, the FFRF has previously succeeded in forcing other schools to cancel Operation Christmas Child, and now they can add another to their “victory list.”
But despite this temporary win – we know God has ultimately won the battle!
Sure, they may have stopped children in this school district from participating, but there are thousands of other Christians who are determined to give children around the world the best Christmas ever.
If you are looking for a Christian ministry to support this Christmas season, please consider supporting Operation Christmas Child.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
