Abudlawali Kijwalo left Islam and became a Christian, knowing it could cost him everything.
But never did he dream his own brother would try and take his life… with a machete.
By the grace of God, Kijwalo survived the attack and lived to tell his story – and you won’t believe what he had to say.
Kijwalo’s family warned him against listening to Christian music or professing Jesus as Lord.
But being a believer, Kijwalo refused to deny Christ.
It’s natural for a Christian who loves the Word to sing and worship the One who wrote it!
There is a supernatural joy that cannot be hidden when a person becomes a new creation in Christ.
Apparently, other family members also noticed his drastic conversion and were displeased that Kijwalo now proclaimed his faith in Christ.
His brother, Musoga Murishid was so upset at his brother’s conversion that he approached Kijwalo while he was tending to his cattle one day.
And then, the unthinkable happened.
The Christian Post reported:
“Are you still a Muslim, or you are now a Christian?” Murishid asked him.
“I am for Christ,” Kijwalo responded.
His brother then took out a machete strapped beneath his long robe and struck him on the head and walked away, believing his brother would have died from the blow”.
While his brother intended to kill him, Kijwalo survived, thanks to a village elder who witnessed the attack and came to his aid, reported Morning Star News.
Kijwalo is still healing from the attack and is in an undisclosed location.
There are countless stories like Kijwalo’s of Muslims leaving Islam to follow Christ…
… knowing that even their own family will likely try and kill them for it.
Others are even willing to lose their own lives just to bring someone else to Christ!
So what makes a person willing to risk even their own life for their faith?
The power of the Gospel.
Jesus tells us not to be afraid for He is always with us.
And as Matthew 10:28 reminds us:
“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Our faithful brothers and sisters in Christ who leave Islam to follow Him know it could cost them everything – but it is worth it.
This earth is only our temporary home and is nothing compared to the eternal glory that awaits every believer in Jesus Christ.
We must continue to pray for those who are persecuted, that they may be strong and hold on to their faith.
And let’s continue to pray for physical healing for Kijwalo and that his unbelieving family may be saved through his bold faith and obedience to Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
