It is estimated that nearly 1 million babies per year lose their lives at the hands of cruel abortionists in the United States alone.
And as a Christian pro-lifer, it may feel hopeless to do anything to stop it – as the situation seems so massive and hopeless.
But it’s not too big for God – and during a 24/7 prayer vigil, God revealed what He can do through a group of faithful and willing prayer warriors. And you won’t believe how many lives were spared.
Each year, 40 Days for Life hosts an around-the-clock prayer vigil outside of Planned Parenthood facilities or other abortion facilities for 40 days straight.
Through prayer and fasting, and conversations with women contemplating abortion, unborn babies’ lives are being saved all around the country as women choose not to move forward with abortion.
In fact, since 2007, 40 Days for Life says almost 21,000 unborn babies’ lives have been saved!
Praise God.
What a miracle – and it happens one woman at a time.
This year, in the kickoff week for 40 Days for Life – 78 unborn babies have already been saved as their mothers reversed their decision to end an innocent life.
In Chicago, a mother came to the clinic with the baby’s father planning to abort the life growing inside of her.
But God had other plans.
The father of the child expressed to a volunteer named Anne Marie that he didn’t want to hurt his child (through abortion).
Through their conversation, the couple chose life – and even joined in praying for other unborn babies!
Christian Headlines reported:
“Anne Marie responded, “God will make you what you need to be to care for this child.”
The conversation outside the clinic led the mom and dad to decide not to abort the baby.
“Not only did the couple reconsider,” said Joe, the 40 Days for Life campaign leader at the clinic.
“They told Anne Marie they weren’t going through with the abortion and even [told the woman] they’d join her on the sidewalk praying.”
What a beautiful testimony!
Stories like this should remind us all that we each have a part we can play in ending abortion.
For some of us that could mean standing outside an abortion clinic and faithfully praying for those going in that they would choose life.
It could mean opening up one’s home to a pregnant woman with nowhere to go – or providing resources for her to care for her baby.
Maybe it means running for office and working to introduce pro-life legislation, or working behind the scenes to help pro-life causes.
Whatever God has called you to do – know that as Christians we all have a moral duty to speak up for those who can’t fight for themselves.
God is the author of life – and He hates the slaying of life through abortion.
As it depends on you, spend time in Scripture and pray about what your role can be to help make abortion a thing of the past.
Some politicians will always advocate for abortion, and fund abortion clinics.
But God is sovereign and stronger than man – and His plans can never be thwarted.
Let’s go save some babies!
