Today is Mother’s Day and perhaps you may feel extra celebrated and loved in the important role you play as a mom.
But in God’s eyes – your sacrificial work is celebrated each and every day as you pour into the lives of your children.
Whether your little one is a newborn – or about to get married – you still have an important role to play as a mother in God’s eternal plan.
To all the new moms
If you are a first-time mom who decided to stay home and raise your children, you may feel overwhelmed with trying to feed and care for your baby amongst piles of unwashed dishes or crumbs all over the floor.
As you do the daily work of bathing, caring, and loving your child – if you aren’t careful, you might start to believe the lies of satan that your work isn’t “meaningful” and that you should be doing something “more with your life”.
But oh sweet mama – you ARE doing MUCH with your life!
You are pouring into your little ones and teaching them about Jesus while raising up future disciples of Jesus.
There is no greater reward.
It’s often in the mundane day to day actions of life that your little ones are learning what it means to grow up and experience the unconditional love of a mother.
To the moms letting go
Perhaps your little one isn’t so little anymore and is getting ready to graduate or even get married.
Your mama heart may be full of emotion with a bittersweet feeling of wanting to let them fly but longing to hold them close.
Take heart and know your role as their mother will carry on – and all the lessons and traits you taught them will guide them as they take their next steps.
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6
God loves them more
And remember, God loves your child more than you ever could.
His love is perfect, and He is always in control.
Sarah Walton from Desiring God wrote:
“Each mother carries her own unique fears, anxieties, and struggles, but we all desire to be the mom that our children need, don’t we? These burdens and fears will either consume us and create perpetual anxiety within us or, by God’s grace, they will lead us to the one who is not only in control, but knows exactly what our children need — and loves them more than we ever could.”
Every scraped knee you bandage or tear you wipe away has a purpose.
As you selflessly pour into the lives of your children, regardless of what stage of life they are in, know God sees your work, and He will work it all together for His master plan.
Happy Mother’s Day!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
