Homosexual groups across the United Kingdom are stepping up attacks on Christian speakers to dare to appear at public events.
These liberal hate groups are bent on restricting freedom of speech and shutting down any viewpoint they don’t like.
But Franklin Graham is standing up to these organizations in this powerful way!
Evangelist Franklin Graham originally planned a seven-city tour of the United Kingdom for this summer, but all seven venues recently called off the events scheduled in their cities.
Public arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, and Newcastle upon Tyne, among others, have caved into the pressure of homosexual organizations who claim that Graham preaches “homophobia” and “Islamophobia.”
In each of the seven cities, supporters of the homosexual agenda wrote petitions to cancel Graham’s appearances, claiming that his Bible-centered preaching has no place in their communities.
Graham “has a long record of preaching hate, prejudice, and intolerance,” argued Jayne Bryant, a representative of a pro-homosexual organization in Wales.
“Franklin Graham’s views are wholly consistent with our city, which is preparing to welcome huge celebrations and tens of thousands of people this summer for UK Pride,” agreed Ste Dunn, a city official in Newcastle upon Tyne.
In other words, these cities are bowing to the pressure of liberal activists and prioritizing the comfort of homosexual individuals over Gospel preaching. “Pride” parades and celebrations of deviant behavior have taken precedence over God’s truth.
In today’s world, this is no surprise, but it’s an incredible disappointment for Christians throughout the United Kingdom, who are increasingly silenced in their communities.
“This attack on me is an attack on religious freedom and freedom of speech,” Graham said. “For any Christian group that wants to rent a venue that believes the Bible is the Word of God, they’re in danger of being canceled.”
But Graham hasn’t been deterred by the cancellations, accusations, and threats to his work. He plans to find alternative venues and complete his speaking tour in spite of it all.
“[I’m] looking forward to preaching the Gospel across the UK in late May and June,” Graham said recently. “Hundreds of churches are praying and planning to be a part of these evangelistic outreaches.”
Instead of responding to the hate of others in kind, Graham acknowledged that the homosexual agenda stems from a place of deep hurt and emptiness.
“People everywhere are searching for something to fill the void in their lives,” the evangelist said. “Jesus Christ is the answer.”
Graham went on to pen an open letter to the pro-homosexual activists who oppose his work.
“It is said by some that I am coming to the UK to bring hateful speech to your community. This is just not true,” he wrote.
“I am coming to share the Gospel, which is the Good News that God loves the people of the UK, and that Jesus Christ came to this earth to save us from our sins.”
“We are all sinners—myself included,” Graham continued. “My message to all people is that they can be forgiven and they can have a right relationship with God…that is the hope people on every continent around the world are searching for.”
Even though Graham invited homosexual activists across the UK to come to his events and hear the Gospel, saying “you are absolutely welcome,” these anti-Christian organizations refuse to retract their inflammatory statements.
They continue to protest his “hate speech against minorities,” ignoring the message of love and repentance that he’s bringing to their cities.
“Let’s send a clear message to this US hate monger that he is not welcome in London or the UK!” said one group.
Graham urged Christians in the UK to remember that this kind of persecution is nothing new.
“Throughout history, the Gospel has consistently faced opposition,” he said. “This is spiritual warfare. The enemy does not want the Gospel proclaimed.”
He also asked for prayer from Christians across the UK and the United States.
“Please join me in praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ there, that God will remove obstacles to this Gospel work, and that He will prepare the hearts of people across the nation to hear and respond to His message.”
Pray for Franklin Graham as he stands up to the bullying of anti-Christian groups and seeks to share the hope of Christ in the UK this year!
