A former candidate for President has taken to Facebook to thank the public for their prayers as he battles COVID-19.
“He describes the current process as ‘cruise control’ because the progress is slow but his breathing is getting stronger every day.”
“Make no mistake: He is improving! Please keep praying and know he loves you all.”
Herman Cain, a prominent Republican spokesman, businessman, and surrogate for President Trump’s re-election campaign, recently tested positive for COVID-19.
Just days after the diagnosis, Cain was rushed to a hospital in Atlanta for urgent care.
At 74 years old, Cain quickly developed symptoms “serious enough that he required hospitalization,” reported his team.
Initially, hopes were high that Cain would recover quickly, but as his battle with the virus continued, it became clear this was a serious moment in the businessman’s life.
He needed critical medical care and swift intervention.
But even as they relied on doctors, his family and team had just one request for Cain’s supporters – prayer!
They asked people across the country to lift up Cain’s condition to God and ask for His healing hand.
And Cain himself is positive that prayer is what’s keeping him alive right now.
“Herman wants to thank everyone for praying for him. It’s making a difference,” wrote Cain’s team in a recent statement.
“He’s still in the hospital but he’s making progress and we expect to hear more encouraging news as the week progresses.”
Cain is fighting hard against the virus and his family is confident he will survive COVID-19.
“We do know he is a fighter who has beaten Stage 4 cancer,” they said, reflecting on Cain’s past victories.
“With God’s help, we are confident he will make a quick and complete recovery.”
So far, Cain has not needed the assistance of a respirator, which is a specific answer to prayer for his family!
“Mr. Cain did not require a respirator, and he is awake and alert.”
“That was probably the one detail we were praying about the most, and God was gracious [to allow him to avoid the respirator].”
God has been showing His power and love by answering these specific prayer requests!
And his team has no intentions of stopping.
“Let’s not sugarcoat it: COVID-19 is a horrible thing to experience, and while we are sure Herman will beat it just like he beats everything, he really needs prayer right now,” said Dan Calabrese, a member of Cain’s editorial team.
“Herman will be fine. We’re also confident of that.”
“But please lift him up in your prayers, as well as his wife Gloria and their family for strength and encouragement in getting through this.”
It’s hypothesized that Cain contracted the virus at a recent Trump re-election rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but there’s no solid evidence yet.
“I realize people will speculate about the Tulsa rally, but Herman did a lot of traveling the past week, including to Arizona where cases are spiking,” said Calabrese.
“I don’t think there’s any way to trace this to the one specific contact that caused him to be infected.”
The media has taken advantage of this situation to claim that President Trump’s rallies are spreading COVID-19, but Cain’s team has stressed the fact they don’t know exactly where Cain was infected.
“There is no way of knowing for sure how or where Mr. Cain contracted the coronavirus,” wrote Calabrese.
“We’ll never know.”
Cain, a dedicated Republican advocate and outspoken supporter of President Trump, hopes to recover in the next few weeks and continue his work on the re-election campaign.
“You know of [Cain’s] love for our country and his passion for ideas and solutions,” said Calabrese.
“We know the guy who’s led this team with focus and determination through plenty of highs and lows and has been extremely good to all of us throughout the whole thing.”
Despite this temporary setback, Cain is still ready to step up to the plate and work hard to prepare for the November election.
Let’s support Cain throughout his recovery and, in the words of his team, “Please keep him, and all who are battling this virus, in your prayers.”
God’s healing touch is powerful indeed!
