Due to COVID-19 closures, many students were forced to attend school at home without a real space to work or manage their studies efficiently.
So when Christian teacher Nate Evans found out about the massive number of kids who didn’t even have a simple work space – he wanted to do something about it.
His love for God and others compelled him to launch “Woodworking with a Purpose” – and just wait until you hear the amazing way he tangibly helped thousands of students.
Nate spoke to CBN News about his love for children and his passion to help them.
He said he quickly realized many students attending school online didn’t have their “own space” to study – and either had to work at the kitchen table or even on the floor.
Wanting to help these students, he simply purchased supplies and started building desks one day, and to his amazement, the exact amount of money he needed to build each desk continued to come in!
He’s now built over 2,000 desks – and he’s even purchased bookshelves and books to further help students in their studies.
From there, Nate continued to find creative ways to help children – even building hope chests for foster kids.
CBN News reported:
“My hope is to turn it into a ministry,” he told CBN News. “I want it to be children seein’ people acting through God to give them hope, to show them love. Show kids that God loves them through our actions. I’m hoping to inspire other people and branch out into other states to help other families.”
He continued, “I’ve always dreamt of being a minister. I’ve wanted to be able to do those things. I see a lot of possibilities that God has in store.”
Praise God for Nate Evans!
He’s a shining example of how one individual can use their God-given talents and truly make a difference in this world.
Nate had a talent for woodworking, and not only was he able to tangibly help children, but most important – he could point them to the love Jesus Christ has for them.
Each believer is gifted with unique spiritual gifts, and it is beautiful when Christians use their gifts to serve the body.
We are designed by God to carry one another’s burdens, and Nate used his talent to help provide a workspace for children so they could have their own place to focus on their studies.
Take a moment and reflect.
What are your spiritual gifts?
Are there ways you could be using your gifts to help others, either locally or abroad?
If you aren’t familiar with spiritual gifts, consider reading about them in the Bible and learning how each one contributes to the cause for Christ.
Pray and ask God how He is leading you to use your gifts to impact His kingdom.
Each of us has a part, and the body of Christ functions best when each person is using their unique spiritual gifts for God’s glory!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
