The dire situation in Afghanistan continues to worsen, with women and children taking the brunt of it all.
Things are so bad, fathers are selling their own daughters into sex slavery, just to put food on the table.
And once you hear just how bad things have gotten in Afghanistan, you’ll be compelled to fall on your knees in prayer.
While the mainstream news seems to have lost interest in reporting on the situation in Afghanistan – the people of Afghanistan are still suffering under Taliban rule, now more than ever.
Women and children are not respected in Afghanistan, and seem to be taking the brunt of the exploitation and violence.
Christian Life Daily has previously reported on child brides – and the current situation is worse than anyone ever imagined.
One father admitted he felt “forced” to sell his 9-year-old daughter Parwana as a child bride to provide food for his family.
He spoke to CNN about the “guilt and shame” he felt… but claimed he didn’t know how else he was going to feed his family of 8.
He had already sold her older 12-year-old sister.
CNN reported that Parwana had dreams to become a teacher… but a 55-year-old man (who already has a wife) bought her as his bride for a measly $2,200.
The little girl was sobbing dragging her feet out the door at the completion of the sale – knowing her future would be bleak.
Qorban (the buyer) promised to “not beat her” and treat her like one of the family.
CNN reported:
“(Parwana) was cheap, and her father was very poor and he needs money,” Qorban said. “She will be working in my home. I won’t beat her. I will treat her like a family member. I will be kind.”
Parwana, dressed in a black head covering with a colorful floral garland around her neck, hid her face and whimpered as her weeping father told Qorban: “This is your bride. Please take care of her — you are responsible for her now, please don’t beat her.”
One can’t even imagine the sheer terror and fear this little girl faced knowing what was in store for her.
Her innocence has been stolen, and the betrayal from her own father likely crushed her spirit.
And while our hearts are breaking, we know it also grieves our Heavenly Father.
But we can take heart in knowing God has promised that justice belongs to Him – and one day He WILL right all wrongs.
As Christians, we must remember to keep praying for a massive revival in Afghanistan – praying that those who do wicked deeds will repent – and turn from their wicked ways.
May God’s swift justice reign on those who exploit vulnerable children.
Evil will not have the last word.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
