An evangelical revival is sweeping across Spain unlike anything seen in modern history.
Existing churches are growing and new churches are being planted.
And you won’t believe your eyes when you see the numbers.
According to Mission Box, “there were just under 3,000 evangelical churches in Spain in 2011.”
By 2018, there were 4,238 churches in Spain, representing more than a 40% growth in just seven years!
This expansion represents many evangelical denominations including, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Brethren, as well as independent churches.
Speaking about this miraculous growth at the opening ceremony of the Spanish Evangelical Alliance’s annual General Assembly, Fernando Lopez had this to say:
“You fight to make this region better … We realize that if there were many evangelicals, this region would be better. I thank you for who you are … There are many of us who believe in the importance of religion in personal life and also in social life. Events like this are good news for the human being because we are people who make Christian commitment a pillar of our life.”
Fernando Lopez is the President of Región de Murcia, a political autonomous province along the Mediterranean coast of Spain.
According to Mission Box, “the influence of the evangelical church alliance has been well-received in Murcia where the government agreed in 2017 to permit ‘evangelical religion’ classes in public schools.”
In his speech, President Lopez told the crowd that officials would soon allow evangelicals to provide “religious assistance” in hospitals as well.
The resurgence of faith in Christ has made these advances possible.
Starting at the beginning of this year, evangelicals in Spain have launched a new campaign to fight the gender confusion insanity being preached by the enemies of God.
According to the Christian Post, “’Con Mis Hijos No Te Metas’, which translates as ‘Don’t Mess With Our Kids’, originates in Latin America but is gaining ground elsewhere,” particularly in Spain.
The “Don’t Mess With Our Kids” campaign was officially launched at a conference of around 250 Spanish evangelical leaders at the Bethel Center in Madrid, on January 26.
Christian Rosas, spokesman for the campaign, said it was about fighting “tyranny of gender ideology, which lacks true foundations but aims to impose itself globally as the only accepted worldview.”
He explained their goal was to defend “the right and responsibility of parents over and above the state in instilling values in their children … [the campaign] does not present anything new, we are just [presenting] the same and only truth that has always been there. We are calling the church to join the truth, which is in Christ.”
The first coordinated event was a day of prayer held February 28th.
“After that, training sessions will be held and churches will start reaching out to political leaders and institutions at both the local and national level. They will also take part in a march through Madrid planned by the movement for September,” reported the Christian Post.
Please pray for our Spanish brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for continued revival and evangelical growth as more and more come to know the Lord. Pray also as they confront the “tyranny of gender ideology” and fight a campaign to defend children from gender lies.
And pray that our nation will also wake up to know the Lord and begin to fight back as they are in Spain!
