It should be without question that babies who survive an abortion should receive – and deserve – medical care.
Yet, there are members of Congress who continue to speak out against legislation that would provide medical care for babies who survive the hit on their lives.
One Congresswoman even had the audacity to quote Scripture in defense of abortion – and you won’t believe what she had to say.
Those who advocate for abortion are often non-believers without the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
But recently, there’s been a new push of abortion advocates, who claim to be Christian, misapplying Scripture to justify abortion.
Catholic leaders noticed and even warned President Biden and Nancy Pelosi to stop using the Catholic Church as a platform to promote their wicked pro-abort policies.
Most recently, Representative Hillary Scholten, who calls herself a “pro-choice Christian,” spoke out and claimed that while she believes life is precious… it isn’t up to the government to “regulate it.”
She then had the audacity to quote Jeremiah 1:5 – as if God wrote it to defend abortion!
The Christian Post reports:
“Further, when I read the Scripture, I turn to passages, and I’m guided by passages like Jeremiah 1:5, which states, ‘I knew you before I formed you and placed you in your mother’s womb,'” Scholten said. “It doesn’t say the government’s womb or the speaker’s womb. It says the mother’s womb. I believe life is precious, but I reject the idea that if I embrace the sanctity of life, I also must be forced to invite the federal government in to regulate it.”
Of course, this passage is actually meant to STAND UP FOR LIFE – clearly stating that before a baby is even formed in the womb, they are known by Him.
Since God is the Author of life, each life He creates is intentional – and should be protected – not slaughtered.
But this abuse of Scripture is how many pro-aborts are attempting to “justify” and sell abortion –and other pro-lifers have noticed this too.
The Christian Post continued:
“Michael New, an associate scholar at the pro-life research organization Charlotte Lozier Institute, found it strange that Scholten cited Jeremiah 1:5.
New stated that Christians typically cite this passage “to make theological or scriptural arguments in favor of legal protections for preborn children.”
“However, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, which Congresswoman Scholten voted against on Wednesday, involves protecting children after they are born,” New stated. “Regardless of one’s faith tradition or one’s stance on abortion, protecting infants is something that everyone should enthusiastically support.”
Exactly.
How can a person actually vote against saving the life of a baby after they’ve already been born?!
It is truly unconscionable.
The callousness of our society and the leaders who pass these laws is absolutely heartbreaking.
We must continue to pray and intercede for all the babies who have no voice.
Let’s a hope a day will come in our lifetime when even the mention of abortion is unheard of.
What are your thoughts on Congresswoman Scholten using the Bible to justify abortion?
Why do you think some politicians chose to vote against a bill that would save babies who survived an abortion?
