Chinese officials are so determined to shut down Christianity – they’ll do anything.
From banning Bible apps, to dictating what Christian preachers can teach – it’s no secret they want the name of Christ to be silenced.
But their latest move shows just how desperate they’re willing to go in order to stop preachers from speaking the name of Jesus – even online.
Chinese Christians live in fear, often being forced to meet in underground churches to avoid getting caught by the government.
And while every Christian church is required to “register” so officials know where they are – many believers don’t – knowing it simply puts them on the radar to be attacked.
Chinese Christians have been tortured for their faith – held in solitary confinement by Chinese officials who use psychological brainwashing tactics to get them to denounce their faith.
Most recently, a gang made up of members of the Chinese Communist Party(CCP), police officers, and religious affairs bureau officials raided Shenzhen Trinity Gospel Harvest Church.
Pastor Mao Zhibin and Elder Chu Yanqing were preaching the Gospel via an online Zoom platform, but forced to stop due to the raid.
As it turns out, this wasn’t the first time this particular church and pastor have been targeted by Chinese officials wishing to silence them.
China Aid reported:
“In another incident on April 25, after authorities raided Shenzhen Trinity Gospel Harvest Church’s Sunday service without showing any legal documents, they banned the Church and ordered those present to leave. Police officers transported Pastor Mao, Pastor Cao Yuan, and Elder Chu, with seven other Christians, to the Bantian police station.
Later, Pastor Mao said:
Today, joint force officials from the religious affairs bureau, public security department personnel, and national security agency authorities banned our church. We have not faced such a serious situation as this since we founded our church four years ago.”
But Christians, take heart.
Even though the CCP is working overtime to silence Chinese Christians and stop the Gospel – there are thousands of new believers in China coming to faith!
While communist officials can try and “ban the Bible” – God’s Word is still getting to the people.
Even with this encouraging news of God’s grace and power, persecution of Christians in China is still real.
Open Doors lists China as #17 in its World Watch List of persecuted Christians.
We must remember to pray for our brave brothers and sisters in China – that God will give them endurance to keep going and stay strong despite vicious attempts to silence their faith.
And as Christians, we can rest in knowing God is sovereign and always on His throne.
His Word never returns void.
We can rejoice in the evidence of spiritual fruit being revealed all throughout China, and praise Him that those who once hated Christ, now profess Him as Lord.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
