Sandra Rojas had faithfully served as a pediatric nurse for 18 years and was horrified when her employer demanded she attend educational training on giving abortion referrals to patients.
When she told her employer her Christian beliefs wouldn’t allow her to comply – instead of respecting her religious freedoms – they told her that she must comply or else she wouldn’t have a job.
Refusing to be bullied into violating her faith, Rojas chose to resign. But she fought back with a vengeance – and set a massive pro-life precedent across the nation.
The pro-abort crowd is utterly obsessed with forcing everyone to support their pro-abort policies.
There are countless stories of pro-lifers being attacked and asked to ignore their faith to promote abortion – and then threatened if they don’t comply.
Thankfully, Sandra Rojas refused to go quietly and sued Winnebago County, Illinois, for violating her religious freedoms.
Judge Eugene G. Doherty agreed with Rojas, and Winnebago County was forced to pay $374,1014 in attorney fees.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) served as co-counsel on the case and spoke about the importance of Sandra’s case and the right for medical providers to practice according to their conscience.
Christian Headlines reported:
“Medical professionals should never be forced to engage in or promote activities that violate their beliefs or convictions,” said ADF senior counsel Kevin Theriot.
“Sandra served as a nurse according to her conscience and religion – a right for medical providers that is protected under Illinois and federal law.
The court’s fee award sends a clear message that healthcare workers are free to practice medicine in a manner consistent with their conscience and religious beliefs, and there will be a steep penalty if the government fails to respect that legally protected freedom.”

Government bureaucrats need to stop attacking Christians in the workforce.
But with pro-aborts like Xavier Becerra and Joe Biden holding high positions and advocating for abortions, lower levels of government are empowered like never before.
Which is why more than ever pro-lifers need to stay unified in fighting for the sanctity and dignity of life – and not compromise on their Christian values.
Once bureaucrats realize that Christians will fight back and not just go home in silence – they may be less inclined to try and force employees to violate their religious conscience.
But even if they continue to double-down on Christians, at least there are pro-liberty organizations like ADF that are willing to take the fight as high as it’s needed to protect religious liberties.
