In a fallen world, the star of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is speaking up for the things that matter.
Chris Pratt proves his relationship with the Heavenly Father to be of the utmost importance a second time in recent months by shouting from the mountaintops that he loves God.
Well not exactly the mountaintops, but the next best thing, at the Teen Choice Awards.
On August 12th Pratt proved his popularity with the younger generation by taking home the 2018 Choice Movie Actor award.
The moment was not wasted while on stage in Inglewood, California. Starting the speech off in a light and fun way, as Pratt is adoringly known for, he says, “I’m so thrilled to be here. I have not been a teen for quite some time.”
Then as if his heart couldn’t contain it, Pratt went right into the substance of things.
“I want to thank God. I always do that when I am up on a big platform in front of a bunch of young faces”, Pratt says.
Holding his honorary surfboard that represents his success in the film industry, Pratt continued, “I love God, that’s my thing, I love Him! And you should too!”
It seems nothing holds the star back when he gets an opportunity to share the love of God with others, encouraging them in the faith.
Today is such a trying time for young people with the social demands of adolescents becoming greater and more worldly. Hearing Pratt speak his mind and heart so openly to a hurting and lost generation is a breath of fresh air.
Finally, someone offering real solutions that give a lasting positive impact on your life.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom has been seen by countless people with the opening weekend raking in a whopping $150 million in the US alone, according to the New York Times.
The colossal movie tiptoed across the $1 billion mark in sales worldwide, making it the seventh film from Universal to accomplish such a feat, according to Deadline.
So, while Pratt’s words weren’t lengthy, his global acceptance for his role gives him an invaluable platform to reach people where they are.
This is not the first time that Pratt used his fame wisely to promote the Kingdom of God.
In June, the dinosaur whisperer utilized a bit more airtime to go over a “nine essential life rules” at a MTV award ceremony. CBS News reported:
“Actor Chris Pratt has some biblical — and humorous — words of advice for the next generation. The “Jurassic World” star put his faith on full view when he accepted the “Generation Award” at Monday night’s MTV Movie & TV Awards and imparted his nine essential life rules.”
To get the audience’s attention, the 39-year-old began with “I accept the responsibility as your elder, so listen up.”
Then without skipping a beat, Pratt presents role number one with a quip that makes you laugh, saying, “Breathe, if you don’t, you’ll suffocate.”
In rule number two Pratt states a truth that not enough young people get the chance to hear, in that “You have a soul. Be careful with it.”
Making sure he doesn’t lose the focused gaze of his digitally obsessed viewers, rule number three echoes of classic Chris Pratt humor as he says, “Don’t be a turd.”
The long-term jokester continues his speech with practical, yet objectively funny, advice about using the bathroom correctly at a party, and how to give a dog medicine.
Beginning in rule six, Pratt flips the script again to nail in what really matters.
CBS News has more on the words that caused a frenzy on social media:
“God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do,” Pratt said. “Learn to pray. It’s easy and it’s so good for your soul.”
Pratt, 38, then wrapped up his speech with his last rule: “Nobody is perfect.”
“There is a powerful force that designed you that way and if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace. And grace is a gift,” Pratt told the audience. “And like the freedom we enjoy in this country, that grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood. Do not forget it.”
During his thank-you speech following his life lessons, Pratt recognized his son, Jack, who is 5-years-old. It is truly a blessing that Jack gets to have a dad who, despite his status, has remembered what life is truly all about, and doesn’t take that for granted.
It is inspirational to see an actor stand up for his faith, especially when the pressure is on to conform to the secular belief and morality that pervades most of Hollywood.
Hopefully, this will not be the last we hear in the headlines of Pratt’s faith in the Almighty Creator. And who knows, maybe we will even see others catch on to the fire he displays.
