In communist China, Chinese Christians are harassed, persecuted, tortured, and even killed for their faith.
No one understands this better than Pastor Dai Zhichao, as he and his entire family face daily harassment for their faith – most recently having the keyhole of their door stuffed with glue and their power abruptly shut off.
Because of this, Pastor Dai is asking Christians to pray for him and his family – but once you hear his prayer request – you might be surprised.
Dai leads a small group of believers at Early Rain Covenant Church (ERCC) and is continuously threatened by Chinese authorities.
According to China Aid, local authorities recently detained him AND his entire family last week for 10 hours.
But what is Dai doing to put such a large target on his back?
Following Jesus Christ.
Dai reported his current situation to the church and pleaded with Christians to join him in prayer to help him fully understand the sweetness of the cross.
China Aid reported:
“Thankfully we have God, or else we would be really angry. Thank you for your prayers and love. It’s back in peace for now. Please pray for God to bring us peace and protection.
When they hear us worship God during Sunday services, they get angry and come attack us. Actually, they are not attacking us, but attacking Christ.
God, please help us better understand the sweetness of the cross, and that the most powerful force is the gospel. May the Holy Spirit be with us!”
Talk about faith under fire!
Instead of refusing to gather and meet, Dai simply asks for help to endure the tribulation and suffering.
Even before COVID-19, local authorities had been harassing ERCC members – shutting down their original meeting location and arresting pastors.
But despite the attempts to silence the Gospel – church members found creative ways to meet – and still gather together today to worship our Lord.
Sadly, the attacks on ERRC members continues to be relentless, with authorities recently raiding the homes of ERCC homeschooling families and confiscating personal items, hoping to intimidate them.
Communist China demands all Christians must “register” their information with them – and demand they insert communist propaganda into the Christian Bible.
Churches who boldly refuse to give into the Chinese authorities take their congregations underground where they are able to preach the true Gospel, unhindered.
Let us take a moment and lift up Pastor Dai Zhichao and his family – and pray they are safe and have God’s strength to endure continued harassment.
And let us also pray for all the members of Early Rain Covenant Church – that they will be strengthened in their faith and encourage one another in every season.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
