Christians in Nigeria face extreme persecution and terror with no end in sight.
Open Doors even lists Nigeria as one of the most dangerous countries in the world for Christians.
Yet still, President Joe Biden refuses to acknowledge the slaughter – and wait until you see what he did now.
As Christian Life Daily previously reported, President Biden removed Nigeria off the official State Department list of religious freedom violators.
The world was shocked by the move as violence against Christians in Nigeria was at an all time high.
Many suspect the removal was purely for political reasons – but regardless – Christians and innocent children in Nigeria are paying the price.
And now, just when Biden had a chance to right his wrong and add Nigeria back to the list of religious freedom violators – he’s refused – and is playing politics as usual.
Joel Veldkamp, who serves as head of Christian Solidarity International (CSI), is urging the State Department to reconsider adding Nigeria back – but has not succeed.
He reports that Christians are being killed every week – and it’s not an exaggeration.
Yet despite the persecution of Christians, Veldkamp hints at the politics behind why the U.S. is ignoring the slaughter.
Faithwire reported:
“I think the U.S. government knows that the struggle of the 21st century will be a struggle for control of Africa between the United States and China,” he said. “China is making major inroads into Africa, and the U.S. wants to stop that, and, in order to stop it, they’re trying to get allies like the Nigerian government on their side.”
The Trump administration had previously placed Nigeria on the list in 2020, before the Biden administration removed it.
“Nigeria was put on this list by [then-]President [Donald] Trump in 2020 and, almost certainly, the Nigerian government told their counterparts in the U.S. government, ‘This is our price. We want off of this list if you want our cooperation. This is what we want from you,’” Veldkamp said. “There’s absolutely no credible reason to keep Nigeria off the list.”
Religious persecution is real – and it’s happening all over the world.
As we gather safe in our homes with our loved ones, let us take a moment and pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering extreme persecution – simply for their faith.
In addition, let’s pray the United States will choose to put politics aside – and do the right thing by adding Nigeria back onto the list as a country of “particular concern” – due to its religious persecution.
Do you think Biden should add Nigeria back to the State Department’s list of religious freedom violators?
What are your thoughts on why he refuses to address the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
