While the pandemic has been tough on us all, pregnant women have especially been hit hard.
Husbands who used to be able to accompany their wives to milestone doctor visits are now banned from seeing their own baby’s heartbeat due to COVID-19 “safety measures,” and many moms are being advised by their doctors to cancel all social activities – leaving them isolated and feeling alone.
But you have an incredible opportunity to serve these women and show them the love of Christ – and your service to them could have an eternal impact.
If you’re not sure where to start, check out these practical ways you can shower the pregnant women in your circle with the tangible love of Christ.
Host A Virtual Baby Shower
Whether it’s your pregnant sister or a friend at church, you can offer to host a virtual baby shower!
With many states limiting the number of people able to gather, pregnant women have been forced to cancel baby showers and celebrations.
Especially for first-time moms, this can cause panic as they often don’t have the items needed to welcome their little one and depend on the baby shower to help ease the burden.
Not to mention it’s depressing to go through such a major life event alone without being able to celebrate God’s gift of new life with others.
A simple online shower with prayers and games can help your pregnant friend feel a sense of community and excitement.
In addition, you’ll help them get the practical things they need to care for their baby.
Run Errands
Pregnant women have weaker immune systems and are at a higher risk of getting sick by being in large groups.
Not to mention all the aches and pains that come with being pregnant as the months go on!
Check on your pregnant neighbor and offer to pick up groceries or run a package to the post office.
While it might seem like a small act of kindness, it truly will go a long way.
You can even use your act of service as an opportunity to invite them to church or an online community Bible study to help them feel connected.
Who knows, you could even lead them to Christ!
Plan A Meal Train Or Gift Cleaning Services
While many pregnant moms are used to having a house full of visitors to help them cook and clean as they care for their newborn, the pandemic makes that nearly impossible.
As a result, new moms are exhausted and stressed trying to care for their families, put food on the table, and maintain a clean home.
Consider starting a meal train to have meals delivered to their home for the first 30 days.
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, even frozen lasagna or chili will give them a hot meal to serve their family.
You could even gift a maid service to help ease the burden of cleaning their home – or offer to do it yourself if they’ll let you!
As the body of Christ, we’re called to care for others in times of need and rejoice with them in seasons of joy.
Of course, as you live out your faith and show them the love of Christ, you can point them to the Gospel and remind them that every life is a gift from God.
May our pregnant women never even consider an abortion, knowing they have the love and support of those around them!
