Maddie Martinez was a successful businesswoman and quickly moving up the ranks when she unexpectedly became pregnant.
Wanting to “advance her career” – she had considered aborting her child so she could continue focusing on her goals.
But then she encountered a pro-life group who gifted her with a bag of baby items along with a book – and her life changed forever.
Maddie’s younger sister connected her with a pro-life organization called Embrace Grace, which puts together care packages and bags for moms going through unplanned pregnancies.
Embrace Grace takes their boxes to pro-life pregnancy centers and churches to help single pregnant moms and their families.
As it turns out, Maddie’s younger sister had also faced an unplanned pregnancy a few years back and that’s how she found out about Embrace Grace – which, too, had changed her life.
She wanted to pass along the blessing to her older sister, so she contacted Embrace Grace founder, Amy Ford, who agreed to meet with Maddie.
Maddie described her experience when she received her gift.
The Christian Post reported:
“She let me open it as if it was a gift and read the handwritten letter that was in there. She read it out loud to me, and just told me that I was a really great aunt, and I could be a … really amazing mom, too, and I just needed to trust that God had a plan for me,” Martinez said. “I abandoned the appointment. I never went.”
While the box clearly touched Maddie, her incredible encounter with a loving, pro-life community didn’t stop there.
She read the book “A Bump In Life” – which talks about other women who experienced unplanned pregnancies – and began to develop a relationship with the workers at Embrace Grace.
While Maddie admitted she “attended church” on Sundays – she hadn’t yet internalized what it meant to experience the love and grace of Jesus upon true repentance.
And once she truly surrendered her life to Christ – everything changed.
The Christian Post continued:
“Embrace Grace enabled Martinez to discover that “God already had this plan and that by … getting pregnant … He wasn’t disappointed in me, and He wasn’t angry with me.” From there, Martinez “started to see God in a different way and trust Him in a lot of areas.”
“I surrendered my life to God for the last time and I’m not exaggerating,” she declared. “I’ve probably done it several hundred times and tried and tried and tried and it was like this rock bottom point for me that I was pregnant, and I knew that my baby wasn’t conceived in a way that I could be proud of, but I could still be someone He could be proud of.”
Amen!
Praise God for this incredible transformation that happened in Maddie’s life.
And the women at her church were able to throw her a baby shower and show her the tangible love of Christ by caring for her needs.
Being pro-life is more than putting a bumper sticker on your car or marching down the street.
It’s walking with pregnant moms who are scared or feel alone and helping them not only choose life but connecting them with resources that will help them care for their little one.
May God continue to bless Embrace Grace as they live out the love of Jesus and touch the lives of women – and help them choose life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
