The culture of death is reaching new levels in this country with extreme pro-abortion radicals now even talking about legalizing post-birth abortion.
Is it any surprise we now see cases of young babies, born alive, being discarded like they were nothing?
This kind of thing is something that the devil himself must be forcing into the atmosphere.
And for a North Carolina baby girl, thrown to her death down a ravine, the culture of death nearly won, until God intervened in this miraculous way:
Scott and Cheryl Fowler are residents of North Carolina.
Scott was working late at his job in his dump truck on May 9. It was a busy day, and the time was slipping past.
Because he was working late, his wife decided to bring him something to eat.
Suddenly, she thought she heard a noise.
She explained what happened to the local news: “My husband was working late in his dump truck. I was coming to bring him his supper, and I heard a baby crying.”
But there’s a lot that can sound like the wail of a child. All sorts of animals around them in the less populated area near the dump could have produced this sound. Henderson, NC has lots of critters and creatures that can mimic such a noise.
But her heart was gripped by the sound.
It wouldn’t let her ignore what she heard. Cheryl began listening in, closer and closer to a very dangerous precipice which dropped down 75ft into a ravine.
Nervous to search on her own, she called her daughter to come listen as well.
After a few more moments, she couldn’t deny it. “I just knew somebody somewhere hurt a baby in the woods.”
When her husband came to her, he responded immediately. “My wife said, ‘We hear a baby crying,’ so I cut my truck off. We first didn’t know if it was a crow or what, but then my daughter saw it.”
Their daughter went right to the edge of the 75-foot drop off, and looking down at the very bottom there appeared to be a child’s car seat!
In another moment, she knew she also saw something moving… The baby itself!
At her exclamation, Scott reports what went through his mind: “I thought, ‘That is a baby!’ She had fell [sic] out of her baby chair and bumped her head on a rock…”
Scott acted without thinking. He jumped around and ran down the ledge to get the little one. “She was wet, hungry, and cold. And banged up a little bit.”
His wife was shocked. “She quit crying immediately after he picked her up.”
Scott was just as blown away by this surreal moment. “I got my hand under her head and started to pick her up a little bit and I realized she was kind of quieting down. And I picked her up on out of there and she quieted down and just looked at me and quit crying.”
At the same time, the baby’s mother was at a police station elsewhere in North Carolina, coughing up a story about being kidnapped with her baby. She was so grateful to have escaped, but claimed “they” kept the child.
Unfortunately for her, the story disintegrated nearly as soon as it was formed. She now has a $750,000 bail, for first-degree attempted murder.
After telling their story to the police, Cheryl and Scott learned that the baby’s name is Shaylie Madden. She was seven weeks old at the time.
Both Cheryl and Scott are just praising and glorifying Jesus for His miraculous intervention on behalf of this child and the fact that they got to take part in His plan of salvation.
“Everything was the good Lord’s work…
“We heard her. We found the baby…
“My phone worked each time I made a call, and we never get reception out here.”
Scott also humbly agreed with the beautiful intensity amidst this terrifying situation: “The good Lord put it in our ears and put us in place to find her.”
Cheryl cannot imagine how such a thing could even occur to a mother. “I love my children more than life itself, so I can’t imagine any human being throwing a baby away like a piece of garbage.”
We know exactly how it happens, though. The same forces promoting abortion, the same forces that convinced ancient Greeks and Romans to expose unwanted children in the wilderness…
This story is not new.
While it seems this kind of evil is getting worse, the evil of this world has been here since the fall of man. Sin literally means “separation from God”. Until we as a nation repent, the consequence of the curse will continue to grow more evident.
We need to pray for protection over families, and especially children.
The God of Life has the Almighty Power to intervene. He showed Himself in this way, through the salvation story of little Shaylie Madden.
Pray that eyes are opened even in the Senate that understand the value of life and lead them to challenge laws destroying it.
