Ashley Bratcher, the lead actress in the recently released pro-life movie, Unplanned, is a rising star not only on the big screen, but for the Lord.
She has made it very clear in several interviews since her start to fame that Someone Else is her Source of Life and that she is allowing her call to acting be used by God.
When Hollywood liberals lashed out at the state of Georgia for passing pro-life legislation, Bratcher used her platform to fight back.
And her response is nothing short of God-glorifying.
Playing the role of Abby Johnson in Unplanned, Bratcher brings to the big screen the story of how a director of Planned Parenthood came to know the truth about abortion and eventually gave her life to Christ.
After witnessing an abortion herself on ultrasound, Abby Johnson had a complete life transformation and became one of America’s biggest pro-life activists.
Now that her story is being told on the big screen, it has become one of the most controversial films made in recent years.
That has thrust Bratcher into the spotlight and given her a platform to speak truth, particularly for the unborn.
So when extreme left actress, Alyssa Milano, lashed out at the state of Georgia for passing legislation to save the lives of the unborn after their heartbeat is detected, Bratcher’s response had pro-lifers cheering.
You see, for years the state of Georgia has courted Hollywood productions, trying to lure them and the economic activity they produce to their state. By offering tax incentives to Hollywood for their production needs, Georgia has become a popular filming location for many movies and TV shows.
In an attempt to attack the source of economic activity for the state, Milano went to Twitter to rant:
“…it baffles me that, instead of continuing to foster a pro-film environment, state leaders are going down a divisive road once again, refighting culture wars and jeopardizing one of the state’s biggest sources of revenue… Thousands of actors and film crew members converge on Georgia every year, and we hope to continue to do so. But we require a safe working environment with respect, tolerance, and love. All artists, especially women, must feel welcome.”
But Ashley Bratcher wasn’t having it.
Bratcher responds: “You want a working environment that is safe, respectful, tolerant and full of love? I know a place just like that and I call it home. Women do not seek abortions because they feel strong or empowered, they seek them because they are scared.”
Ashley Bratcher handled Milano in an extremely bold way.
“I’m incredibly proud of my home state for taking a stand in the fight for life amidst backlash and dubious threats.” Her statements also refer to the fact that human life–that of lawmakers, a state’s people, actors, actresses, and especially infants–does not have a price tag.
As one may imagine, threats and boycotts from Hollywood are rising from the shadows rapidly. Milano is at the forefront, making sure Georgia hears them.
We need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Only by Him can we navigate this world of darkness. When there is an opportunity to call out the lies and speak up for Truth, we need to be ready to do so.
Pray for blessing and comfort on Bratcher as she continues to battle face to face with these backlashes.
Praise God for raising up a mighty woman of faith to be able to do this by His power.
Pray she continues to stay so united with Him that His power works mightily through her. Let her feel the strength and revival, the rest and readiness, that only God can provide.
May we also lift up Georgia, and for clarity for the minds of lawmakers to not “put a price tag” on human life.
May the Truth God is allowing them to work in continue to be more gripping than the screams from the enemy. In Jesus’ Name we pray!
