The Bible commands us over and over not to be anxious about anything – but still many of us spend days, weeks, or even years anxious about the future.
We worry about things that often never even happen – all the while Satan has succeeded in stealing so much time from our lives.
Not only is anxiety wasted energy – but it causes us to miss out on one major thing – the gift of the present.
In reality, the present is all we have.
The past is finished and we can’t relive it, and the future is unknown – as we aren’t even guaranteed tomorrow.
Sadly, Satan works overtime to keep us feeling guilty over our past sins or regrets and anxious about what will happen in the future…
… completely taking our minds away from the here and now and all God has for us.
When we are anxious, we fail to see the many blessings God has for us right now, in the present, with the greatest gift being Himself.
How amazing is it that even on our darkest days, those of us who trust in Jesus can reach out to Him – and He will graciously grant us with His peace.
Think about it… the God of the entire UNIVERSE is there to help us in every season.
Instead of embracing this gift – many of us fall prey to anxiety and worry over the unknown.
But the good news is, God knows that as humans we will all struggle with anxiety at some point in our lives – whether over a particular situation or even an entire season of life.
Thankfully, when we are anxious, He’s already told us exactly what to do.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
“Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” – Matthew 6:34
“Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.” – Proverbs 12:25
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” – Colossians 3:15
So if you struggle with anxiety, now is the time to give it up to God – and trust Him.
He’s promised to be with you – and even when life seems out of control, remember His sovereign hand is in control of everything.
Don’t let the Enemy steal one more blessing of the gift you have in today.
Find your joy and strength in the Lord – and experience the goodness of God.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John 3:16-17
