God commands Christians to care for the orphans and widows – and one family is living out His command in a radical way.
Having a love for children and a heart for those without a home, this family decided to adopt – but they didn’t stop with just one child.
Forever altering their world, they’ve currently adopted 13 children – adding to the two biological children they already have!
Their children come from all different racial backgrounds and places, but one thing was the same among them all – none of them had a home.
Living out the Gospel in a beautiful way and showing their love for Jesus, this family loves answering the question of “why” they would choose such a life.
Live Action reported:
“But the biggest reason our family looks the way it does is because it represents an act of obedience to our Lord Jesus. We truly believe that each child in our family was destined to be with us. God called us to step out in faith and pursue these children. Our family would not be complete with even one of them missing.
Adopting so many children has stretched our faith, tested our patience, and pushed our perseverance to the very limit. And it certainly has put a strain on our budget! But the realization that our crazy family is pleasing to the Lord is reward enough, and the smiles and joy our children bring us is a bonus.”
Wow, talk about really living out one’s faith!
What a beautiful way to show the love of God tangibly by giving these former orphans a now permanent home.
Not to mention, their life is a beautiful witness of the love of Christ to a dying world.
In fact, this family shares that others have been so inspired by their act of faith, they too have adopted children into their own homes!
Some people look at children as a burden – they think about all the things they can’t do or places they can’t go.
But this family knows what’s really important and their perspective is focused on eternity, not the fleeting things of this world.
And most important, they realize that while it may be a challenge to raise so many children – both financially and emotionally – they are doing it out of obedience to God.
What a beautiful example this family is to not only their biological and adopted children – but to the world!
May all of us who claim Jesus as Lord look for ways we can minister to orphans – whether it’s actually adopting children into our own homes, or supporting our friends or organizations involved in the adoption process.
We all have a role to play, and if we obey God and care for the orphans, we can make sure no child ever lives a life abandoned or alone.
